Yes perhaps your right, I have seen button collar blazers before but after doing a GOOGLE search I didn't find a name for them......button collar blazer i guess :embar:.......either way thanks for the help!

The pic is very small but it might be a 'throat latch' I can barely tell though but if it was it looks like he buttoned it

Looks like a throat latch to me.

I believe it is a sport coat with whats called a tab collar

I say throat latch. Looks like those on a bunch of Polo mtm tweeds just consigned to me.

There is a forward button on each side of the under collar to use when buttoning the latch across, and a second button on the wearer's right for buttoning away the latch when it is not in use.

I was under the impression a 'tab collar' was a style of shirt collar, and that what you are all arguing about is called either a collar tab, or a throat latch.

This is another pic of the same coat from the Armoury blog.

We're all right, to a degree: Everyone is talking about the bit of fabric that draws together the coat collar points to protect the wearer against inclement weather.

When the piece of fabric is permanently attached, it is commonly called a tab or storm collar,

However, when the piece of fabric is only buttoned-on and detachable, many, such as Orvis, Norman Hilton, and Brooks Brothers, call the bit a throat latch. Sometimes they call it a detachable throat latch. But I cannot find a citation for a detachable tab.

I don't understand what you mean.. You mean like a little kick-out off of the collar at the gorge area with a buttonhole on it?

Sounds intriguing - if they happened to be made for someone who was approximately equivalent to a size 44R, I'd be very interested in hearing more!

I've always heard of it referred to as a "throat latch", too.

no it's more of a hook, with a receptacle on the other side.

i can't close it while wearing the jacket - it was made for someone with a pencil neck.
