I think I'm addicted to chinos. I have pairs from RRL, Buzz Rickson, and Bronson. I just added ones from Warehouse via Masuya 1997. After a couple of wears, my clear favorites are the ones from Warehouse and Buzz Rickson. They have the classic styling and are robustly built. Also, Masuya 1997 will ship to the US, but you can't use their e-commerce system. You have to fill out a form and they'll respond via email and a PayPal invoice.

I’ll second the Armoury sport chino recommendation. They are the best chinos I’ve ever handled. But, they are very expensive, at least compared to your typical chino.

I wear mind so much I've gotten my monies worth out of the two pair that I have. Wardrobe staples of all natural fibers that will last warrant that $200-350 price range.

Agree to disagree. $200 khakis are ridiculous for a cheap staple. All-cotton khakis are rare today, but not unobtainable at regular stores

I agree. In contrast, a few pairs of Spier & Mackay chinos I bought in early 2023, and wore on occasion throughout the year, are already fraying on the fly and waistband.

I agree, 100%. After years of lusting for a pair of RRL Officers (it just seemed frivolous to spend north of $225 or whatever it was a couple years back--currently $245) my weaker demons prevailed and I finally pulled the trigger.

After trying to patch them myself and then having a friend do a half-hearted attempt I took them to a local alterations place. She did an okay job, but it was and $88 expense, including mandatory dry cleaning and our rapacious sales tax. So I'm at least $325 in at this point.

I like the 'idea' of the RRLs. But the J Crew Classics are at least 90%. The cut is fine for me, seems similar to the RRLs but I haven't measured either nor done a side-by-side comparo. I like the details of the RRLs: Button fly, ticket/watch pocket, stitching at the pocket hem (not sure what that's called.)

I do love the button-through flap on the rear pockets on both.

But the J Crews win on price: $98 vs $245. And don't fall apart.

Serious question: did officers wear different khakis than enlisted or NCOs?
