Agreed. Black captoes are playing it safe, but most places won't care providing you're looking smart and like you've made an effort. Black chelseas, smarter derbies will be fine for most places (or brown shoes). If you've got an interview at an accountants, bankers, law firm etc. you probably want to play it really safe, but most places aren't as fussy.

Just make sure you don't have any tats showing.

Things I would wear and not even care about; probably not at the same time:

full length missoni coat

(...)

Porter has a Missoni cardigan that wasn't memorable to me from the product pics -- maybe just because it's wool-nylon and priced over $1,500 -- but now it's in an editorial featured on the homepage and hot damn it looks t[o]asty.

I need feminism because the mall sells lady-jackets in that pattern for cheap, yet when I look for the cis-dude equivalent, it's So rare, and $1500.

Also sick fabrics like the darkred/black one Yang Li used for a womens bomber some year ago, saw a girl in class yesterday wearing a peacoat-ish thing in almost the exact same fabric

A couple friends of mine had a clothing brand for awhile, they sourced all their fabrics from some giant fabric market in china, at one point they had a cheetah print fabric, I saw that fabric in no less than 5 different clollection within a year, so for most brands the cost is the same, the only difference is brand value.
