If it has the BB logo on the front (or as a zipper pull) it's from before the menswear was cool. (In the literal sense. I don't know that the manufacturing standards ever changed for better or worse.)
For a while I had an unlined cotton sportcoat with the same black tag and numbered sizing that I got off eBay. It was nice, very tidily constructed. But I resold it after I found other jackets that fit better.

the original shirt looked like it could have been an Alexander McQueen or a John Galliano and after the overdye ended up looking like a Zara or a Topman

Srsly, though, I think the one you posted is good for the same reason the Uniqlo or W + H camo pants are good: with a little subtlety, you're getting the best of both worlds.

(Never go full Etro).
