Just forget about Achilles and go for the other styles.
Bballs are dope in all iterations, I like the suede tournament mids a lot too.

Lowtop Achilles generally look bad. Actual Stan Smiths look better. Every other Common Projects model looks better. And I have a half dozen pairs of Achilles. Only the burgundy ones look cool, because of the contrast. All whites look like nurse's shoes. All black? Nursing home orthopedics.

My tournament lows have proven to be indestructible (raves, Coachella, random adventures, whatever). I also have Achilles that I haven't worn as much. Shrug. White sneakers are awesome, that is all.

Wow, interesting kindofyoung -- read the book as well didn't realize they made a series out of it. Though I wasn't a huge fan of the book or period shows, might still check it out.

what do you guys think about sandals with (thin) leather soles? i got a pair of marsells and they are comfortable enough, but i am worried that the sole will wear out quickly...

They will last much longer than you think.

For reference, my leather sandals have lasted longer than my CP achilles.

As long as the leather is tanned properly it should last a long time.

I wore all Rick all day yesterday. Walked 8 miles in a pair of Geobaskets.

No funny looks (in London; I'm sure back home in OH if I wore the shorts I was wearing I'd get all sorts of strange looks) but the SAs at Cartier were not happy with my presence when i was hanging out while my girlfriend was getting a watch serviced.

Might wear the prisoner pants or swinger shorts today for a less drastic outfit
