Headed to NYC for a few cold (to me)rainy days. Torn on footwear I’ve got black blundstones, and various sneakers. Lots of walking planned so interested in opinions. My usual day to day is walking to the car and back
I like Goretex Clarks Wallabees, but YMMV.

@1969 I did a week in NYC last summer with only Blundstones and I'd do it again. Didn't see any rain in that time but they do pretty well with rain generally

thoughts on a type III-style leather jacket? i'd never considered the style but this youtube guy commissioned one from aero and it looks pretty cool. i like the cropped/boxy shape, i have a 5 zip but that fitted style feels very early-00s now.

It’s my go to, when it’s not -10F outside. My favorite is from Real McCoy’s in rough out, but I also have an Aero. I like them because they see outerwear, but are easily worn inside as well.

thanks, yes i guess it's pretty versatile, particularly in one of their lighter leathers. was a bit unsure if it reads as 'western styling' - i prefer a minimal look- but i suppose a denim style jacket goes with most things.
i like the look of rmc but as im in the UK might as well go Aero mtm

Always seem to enjoy Kyle Chaka's writing. He's got a new book out and interview with him in the NYT with Erza Klein came out where they touch on senses of personal style and taste in the age of algorithms and the unfolding AI world. Might be of interest to folks here. It's not focused on clothes but taste in general.

I had one for a few years, and really loved it. There are about a million versions of it too, so you can get a more minimal streetwear version or repro or workwear or whatever style you're looking for.

Yes, clothing silhouette looks of the moment, but why does he have early-00s emo hair though

Pretty happy that my favorite silhouette is works right now, and with one of my favorite sneakers (I have a fresh pair on deck, and hope to pick up one more at the end of this season. Saves me having to think about my uniform for a bit:

are those the ann d chucks? i love this silhouette. cropped/boxy jacket, wide trousers, nbs/timberlands etc.
Yup, Ann D chucks. I am wearing a pair of soft suede ones, but have a white coated pair on deck, and really want the natural white (aka peach) ones as well. My wife likes the high tops, and I have a couple of pairs, but prefer the lows for comfort and versatility.

its an interesting moment in the cycle actually, because 20-ish years of fitted clothing patterns now feel dated and the whole mid market hasn't caught up. so if i want a leather jacket, say, my best options are vintage or zara. (or acne/OL/balenciaga i guess but they all feel like they're trying hard to copy the berlin thrift store aesthetic )
