Damn glad that a good part of this thread is about keeping healthy! Those are all good recommendations, in going to scour some of the deals and pick some sale items for my running gear.

I hate having to wash the same 3 pairs of **** shorts I picked up from the thrift and tearing holes through my undies. Gonna post my haul once I got it together. I did get another pair of running shoes so I can alternate Saucony Triumph 20s to go alongside my endorphin speed 3

I've been happy running (and doing general fitness things) with lined Lululemon pacebreaker shorts for years and years. I've had 7" and 5" inseams and the leg opening works fine for me running. I've not felt a need to go shorter - and they seem a bit more versatile at that length.

I've pretty much also used mainly lululemon gear (that I got for 60+% off) and have been really happy with it. This for anything from HIIT to 1 hour runs

I have had a pair of Patagonia Baggies that I’ve had for over 15 years and they’re still going strong. I run, play soccer, hike, swim in them. They have a mesh lining and I like that they have real pockets. Dislike running shorts that don’t have room to hold anything larger than energy packets and a key.

mine have a seam i can pop to make the pockets even bigger , but i don't really like baggies for running or swimming . not sure why i'd run or swim with full pockets ?

Not so much that I swim with full pockets but I appreciate that they are a “do-anything” short. Don’t really need/want shorts that are only good for running and not much else.

Any recs on where to pick up a good starter suit in NYC?

A friend is looking to pick up a 3-season suit that he can wear for weddings and other equivalent events, he'll get it tailored but budget under 1k. Probably closer to 500ish although for the right fit he can go higher. Uniqlo is the only thing I got aside from buying second hand. Any other ideas?

I've been in this space for maybe 25 years now, and for that entire time, here and in other hobbies, and one constant are salty product reviewers and enthusiasts like myself complainging that a certain well represented, well marketed brand is selling a product for 30% more than a comparable product from very obscure brand X, and why would anyone in their right minds pay that much for Boss/Bose/Whatever.

It's like... well, the question pretty much gives the answer...

Should prob just go to Suit Supply and get in & out for the least fuss.

The Rappha cycling kit discussion sort of reminds me of Tracksmith for runners. Great quality stuff but a bit pricey and definitely more style-conscious than the cheap-o Amazon Basics gear I usually go with for running shirts (I will say that Tracksmith's merino wool winter gear is pretty awesome though).

There's is a guy who runs through my neighborhood most mornings ALWAYS wearing the very distinctive Tracksmith striped "Van Cortlandt" singlet and a pair of retro looking Tracksmith shorts. I can never really tell what shoes he's wearing, but I have to imagine their either Hoka or On since those seem to have a similar bloggy-hype around them.

Recently, they've collaborated with J. Crew and I thought I also saw them at Rowing Blazers (or somewhere similar).
Damn do I live in your neighborhood?

I basically only wear Tracksmith except for some old Gyakusou tights that I have. I really like the stuff, but ALSO co sign that the Van Cordtland are the worst. My favorite shorts were the off-road ones that seem to be discontinued (short with a compression short underneath and a phone pocket with a tshirt belt). I try to hit 20-25 miles a week and all my gear has held up for over 2 years (except for one shirt that got weirdly smelly, can't remember what line).

Also love their Merino stuff, its great when its below freezing

edit - also Hoka's are super good for supporting overpronation, love my Arahis
