Does anyone know where I can get a parka/anorak just like this? This is Uniqlo +J from a previous season. Ideally, I’d like something a bit higher quality, and mid-weight water-resistant fabric (better if less synthetic). The length is the most important to me (Uniqlo calls it a “half coat”), half way between a coat and a jacket.

That’s kind of what I was assuming but it’s really hard to find out. Some things seem to say the TF uses his own sizing which is + 0.5 from UK (so halfway between UK and Us?), others say it’s UK sizing. They are fun and I’ve wanted them for years though so I’m just taking advantage of this chance to get the sizing nailed in.

Canada Goose parka.

If you want Canada Goose I recommend Canadian Wolf. Bad name but made in Canada and all the same stats for half the price. I got a friend in one after doing some research and I was impressed when he got it. Canada Goose doesn't want business from anyone actually interested in jackets. And I own one so I can say that. But my model has literally, literally doubled in price since I bought it like 7 yeas ago.

This probably isn't what you want but I've really been liking my Arc'teryx mid length gore-tex jacket. Mid length gore-tex jackets are super rare but it's a really fun fabric because it's so light. Flaps behind you like a cape in the wind and has a good drape for being so thin. It gives me cyberpunk gumshoe vibes, which I welcome openly.

My problem with Canada Goose is they are getting rid of the fur trim on the hood forever.

That’s a problem? I mean, I know it adds warmth to the hood but who the hell still needs to wear fur these days?
I don't buy into the new age anti-fur bullshit so to answer your question - me.

Fur also cuts down on wind to your face but science was never a thing for that crowd either.

Lol. I'm well aware of the science that fur reduces wind speed around your face to create a warmer microclimate. Maybe at least you can shoot and skin your own coyote if you need to wear fur.

Wanting fur for any technical science reason is dumb. It's the same "tool watch" argument you hear people making to justify 25k chronographs.

Fur looks good and feels good. In this specific case the argument is worse because you're already killing 2 dozen ducks to get the down fill for a jacket. So one coyote gives multiple fur trims but one jacket needs dozens of dead ducks.

Anyone is justified not wearing animal products and there are companies that will cater to them. But taking the fur trim off parkas designed for them looks bad. Luckily, Canada Goose parkas have terrible hoods that need to be redesigned anyway so they have lots of room to move away from animal products if they want to. The hoods are designed to be so crazy deep that the opening is a foot away from your face when it's closed. Which means if you live in a windy city it blows off constantly if its not zipped up. And if you do zip it up all the way any cross wind will bend the sides over your face making you blind to cars and whatnot. It makes sense if you're actually hiking in a blizzard but other than that it's a bad design for everyday living.

I can justify wearing animal products by simply consuming less. I wear a shearling jacket that I love and will wear for years to come, I have shearling boots that are still going strong after 3 winters where most mall-level boots are only designed for one winter, and this Canada Goose parka will last the rest of my life since I only wear it in certain winter weather scenarios.

So, everyone do what they want. I say fake animal products are still inferior to the real deal so it's better to just choose a different aesthetic but I can see why someone would disagree with that.

Pulled it out of the dresser. This is the dumb hood we're discussing. The trim is the absolute least of its issues.

Thanks for the suggestions! Canada Goose looks a bit too heavy duty for my needs. I should’ve been more specific in that I’m after something more suitable for summer, preferably an unlined proofed-cotton (or cotton/nylon) fabric. The Arcteryx coat you’ve posted here looks great, I love that colour! That’s closer to what I want, but I’d like something a bit less tech and a bit more breathable.
