Not a very pretty solution, but I once interviewed a textile conservator who works with museums to preserve valuable artifacts made from textiles. She recommended using Tupperware bins and said they're as good as museum boxes. She also recommended putting a cotton sheet or pillowcase over the top before snapping the lid down. The bugs that feast on animal hair are different from the ones that snack on plant-based fibers. So if you're storing something like a stash of wool sweaters in a bin, bugs will have to get through that first layer of protection first.

Incidentally some years ago I met the textile conservator responsible for preserving Lord Nelson’s coat that he was wearing when he was killed at Trafalger. She had to preserve the bullet hole and blood stains exactly as is. Think next time I’m at the dry cleaners imma be like “yeah clean the rest of the coat but not that stain it’s essential to my brand story”

I learned to hem my own pants. The machine paid for itself after about 6-7 pairs, assuming about $15 to $20 for hemming.

I know I have posted about these pants in the past, but for me nothing beats the Taylor Stitch Camp Pants. They are kind of a hybrid of chinos, jeans and painters pants. I can basically wear them anywhere. Events when I need to wear trousers/dress pants being the exception. I mostly have canvas versions but they make them in different fabrics.
I have the Old Towns "plains" as my (almost) one pant. High rise, slightly tapered, fairly wide but with a normal/flattering top block. The cut goes with everything. I have them in black canvas, cord, denim, and Irish linen. I even wore a pair (in linen) for my wedding a couple of years ago.
I’ve grown fond of LeftField N-1 Deck cords and have them in three colors, Olive, Navy and Khaki. They have a nice mid-high rise, slight taper and I love the subtle Bedford-type cord fabric. They work perfectly for 3.5 seasons as my workday pant.
I can wear them casually or even with a casual sport coat (EG style) or chore jacket.

Searching for pants causes me so much anxiety. Everything I find is too casual or too formal, too baggy or too slim, too wild or too boring. I just want good pants that I can wear with a lot of stuff. I guess I’ll stick to jeans like always ?‍♂️

Orslow New Yorker.

They really are fantastic. Just this season, I picked up a pair of Orslow New Yorkers in Khaki Corduroy and a pair of French work pants in olive cord. They are all I wear now that I work from home most of the time.
I have heard great things about these. My only issue is they would probably be seen as too casual for my job because of the tie waist.

I'm in the same position so I removed the drawstring and just wear a belt. They are certainly a casual pant so they wouldn't really work well with a sport coat or business casual but you also can't really tell that they are elastic waist. They are just slightly too casual for my work environment as well but I do love them.

This happened to me! I gave an artisanal paint-splattered Margiela jacket to the dry cleaner and they removed the paint spaltters! I got it back and was like "oh no what did you doooooo!!!!???"
