Are there any shorts for a leisure/beachside lifestyle that you can wear swimming and doesn't make the swish sound when you walk? Polyamide/nylon swim trunks make the swish sound when you walk but are great for swimming and all the other shorts for lounging are made of linen/cotton/rayon/silk which can't go in the water.

I have some Orlebar Brown bulldogs but I wanted a looser pair of trunks (not zipper and button) and the OB still makes a little bit of sound. I'd also prefer something more matte and not shiny as I think that'd go better with button ups.

Outlier makes the most convincing 'hybrid' shorts in my experience, but the flip side is that it looks like you're swimming in normal shorts. I believe they recently came out with a shorter and wider pair that might fit what you're looking for, still has a zipper/button though.

I guess you are right about the overlap but figured people trimmed and shaved around their beard or something but I guess not? Goes to show you that I don't even think. I might try the coconut oil thing, cheap and easy. Frankly Im more a mustache guy then a beard boi.

I look like a hobo half the time, so big grains of salt needed! It'll depend on what your hair is like. The coconut oil keeps things softer and less chaotic than when it's dry. I wouldn't bother if I only had a mustache, unless it was really long.

The main reason I grew a beard was how **** shaving is. I would get crazy irritated skin and ingrowns on my neck. Biggest upgrade for me was using a proper brush and soap, and paying attention to the direction I was shaving in. The shaving aficionado guys will have all sorts of over the top suggestions. Hattori Hanzo straight-edges etc.

on the coast? go to an actual surf shop, that's where the latest greatest fabrics are and you can try swishing and see what you like.

Anyone do wet shaving? Beard oils etc? I've always been a lazy shaver but this quarantine has got me realizing that if I'm going keep a beard/moustache, I should probably care for it better.

Any recommendations? Any ideas how to find good product that doesn't have some bullshit macho alpha male marketing schemes?
Surprisingly the wet shaving subreddit, r/wicked_edge, is a really good resource and for the most part doesn't go overboard. Personally I'd stick to the guides and FAQ, they have a lot of good info on what to buy in any price range, and you won't run into the extreme users who think you have to spend $50 on soap.

The wet shaving community and ensuing rabbit hole is nutty.

I picked a well reviewed razor and brush, two different shaving soaps I thought I’d like, and got a sampler pack of blades to figure out what worked for me, once I found the blade and settled on a soap I haven’t bothered trying or looking at anything new in 2 years.

I have sensitive, acne-prone skin and looked in to stepping up my shaving game a few years ago. I looked on reddit but wasn't ready to spend lots of $$$ on a shaving setup, so I ended up getting this for $15. It took a bit to get used to but now I like it a lot and my skin is in much better shape. I'll probably upgrade at some point but this has been good. No complaints.

Would definitely watch a few shaving tutorials before starting, though. The first few shaves were rough...

Well Imma look at the wet shaving subreddit faq and pick up some stuff recommended on there. I will say already use a vintage razorblade since I found myself wanting to save money on blades, don't think I'll ever do a straight razor. I think I might eBay some brushes and stuff.

I also am sitting atop jawn that I haven't worn because I'm currently unemployed until Japan opens back up, and have no where to go. But when it's finally time to be out, Imma look ******* good.

BkC owner said on IG earlier that they've seen a 3x jump in sales since the protests started. Hearing similar things from other founders.

Can you please post more? Or provide links to your writings? I really enjoy reading your perspective and insight.

Is anybody still making velcro high tops?

I know margiela, raf, geller, and common projects all did a few years ago. Saw these converse on instagram and thought they were cool.

I don't think so at the moment. I'm always keeping an eye out, being a Velcro shoe fan, but I haven't seen anything that moved me. Vans is doing some Velcro lows at the moment though, and if the Acne Velcro low didn't have the dumb ass emoji on the back i'da bought a pair

Shorts talk: do Patagonia baggies make noise? I own a pair but I've never noticed any noise.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
