Watch strap in elephant and Hermes agenda in phoque. I know that you appreciate the elephant. Unfortunately, I don't have any racing green Lizzard for you.

I think he'd appreciate those leathers more if they were shoes.

Very nice LK, I especially like the agenda.

I like it a lot. I hope it was made from criminal seals who deserved to die.

Two seals walk into a bar and ask for a Canadian Club on the rocks.

Thanks Label for the pictures....Seal is quite appealing ,even if for politically correct reasons it is hard to find and buy some decent products...

I do like elephant too...
What is actually amusing is the main difference between crocs coming from farms and other crocs?
If you're a poacher ,just open a farm and it is free to kill endangered species...

I really like elephant and once had a good deal lined up on a NOS elephant strap. I passed, getting a nice navy croc one instead. I am now kicking myself.

I don't know about other countries, but here in America farming has actually helped the American Alligator population quite a lot. First, farms are fiercely controlled by the government, as is the hide trade (if you don't have that special tag on a hide that designates it as having been a farmed animal, you're toast!). Second, farming has allowed for restocking in areas where the animals were gone or nearly so. At the moment, the American Alligator population is more than high enough for it to be considered stable, though they're still protected.

It's a Red Star Omega, which means it was a chronometer-rated movement for the South American market. They used a star as a means of indicating chronometer status, but that way it also avoided duties.

I have noticed that the French have a great fascination with exotic skins, but how about the Italians? I will be in Naples and was wondering if there are any stores that work with exotic leathers for watchstraps, wallets, ect. Anyone know of any?

I've not seen that sort of cultural fascination with the Italians though most reputable places probably offer crocodile/alligator type skins.. You will, however, see it with the Japanese who also have a variety of artisans working in exotic materials such a tortoise-shell, crocodile, etc.
