Gotcha; I was more concerned about the audible ticking. Nicer quartz seem to not be as loud, but I’ve been bothered by the noise Timex can produce while in a quiet room.

Ah gotcha. It is very quiet, I can't even hear even when I but it against my ear.

Zelos Swordfish 40mm Titanium. This watch really surprised me with its quality for the price so far.

I really like this one, and with a price slightly under $500 certainly a great buy. Also other attractive colours.

A really nice watch, pretty different from the usual cheap Eco-Drive Citizen. I bought it at €669 and think it's an excellent entry level timepiece.

There are also a silver and a blue dial versions.

These are quite cool and a bit different from what's out there. I think Citizen has a lot of potential but they're kinda stuck in whatever niche they are.

Panatime has very nice straps for reasonable prices especially if you wait for one of their sales.
