Just wore a Collared Greens polo for the first time this past weekend. Best fitting polo I've ever worn. I'm 5'11, 190 currently, and the medium is the perfect fit for me. Have yet to wash it, though. If it shrinks appreciably in the wash, I'll have to size up to a large. Anyway, I think these retail in the $60-70 range, so that's my vote.

Why avoid mainstream if they are great. That's like saying living is too mainstream so I'm going to be dead.
The best Polo I have ever worn is the Ralph Lauren Polo, in terms of quality, durability, and overall fit.
I've tried the rest and there is always something that makes it a no-deal.
Anyway, you asked for advice, that's mine..

I'll still check them out because good quality price and fit trumps brand preference but I still prefer to wear brands that are more obscure where I live.

brooks brothers slim fit are pretty good

Thanks, I found a couple locations in NY and I'll be there next week so I'll check them out. Price-wise they're really good but I only saw a couple that I really liked.

I'm 5'6, 165 so I'll look for a small. If you could let me know if it shrinks when you wash it I'd really appreciate that because if I buy it when I'm in the U.S. I doubt I'd wear it and wash it til I'm back home. lol

I checked out Original Penguin too and I'm liking what I'm seeing.
Thanks for the advice peeps!

How do the RL polo's hold up after washings? The biggest issue I have had with polos in general, is their inability to maintain their shape (especially the collars) and their overall color after going through the wash. I am definetely going to try a couple of the RL Polo custom fit polo's for the summer. RL certainly has an abundance of colors to choose from. I am guessing I would be a small in the custom fit, since I wear a 36R in suits.
Wash them inside out on the gentle cycle in lukewarm or cold water. Use a tiny bit of detergent(and I mean like a drop) It's not necessary to wash anyting on hot and it's actually the gentle agitation that cleans clothes. Do not use a dryer, it wear your clothes out (notice that lint? that's your clothes being worn out) Hang the polo on a plastic hanger with rounded edges so as not to leave a mark. Your shirts will last 5x as long and not fade except very gently over time.

tbh, i've never had a problem doing a 'mom wash' with the polos except the collar curling- what I would do with the collar is take them to a dry cleaner once in a while and have them fix the collar up - avoiding the 'mom washes'. popping the collar in the wash helps too if you must use a machine wash - try not to iron the collar at all or too often is the next best thing.

I personally don't do the dry cleaning thing anymore since hanging to dry is better. I also personally stopped caring about how flat the collar looked - depending on the one I was wearing I have been starting to prefer the curl over the perfect flat cut folded collar
