Polos are one of those things that start to look trashy when you stray from the classic polo styles. Keep them simple, classic, and fitted.

Very interesting how cultural/social considerations can alter an aesthecial vision. I am french, live in France. Over here, we don't have that kind of shirts, the gangster type don't know about it and I don't think they would even consider wearing it if they did. So I look at it very with very naked eyes. To me this is modern/fun preppy style. It's more modern than the embroidered chinos sold by BB or RL, but it's in the same family style. Incidentaly, I found the japansese shirt, by Sunnysport, on the (very good) blog of Green Label Relaxing : http://odonata.jugem.jp/. If you don't know about it, Green Label Relaxing is a very high standard japanese retailer selling, among other stuff, some conservative stuff by Brioni, Kiton... Not exactly the typical streetwear gangter brands. Also note that my personal style involves Incotex, Barker Black RLPL for formal wear, WWM, Engineered Garments, Yuketen for casual... And that doesn't prevent me at all from considering those polos. Open mindness is a quality often overlooked in style.

I've tried alot of different polo shirts, as t-shirts just really don't suit me, I tried alot of makes, nothign compares with the feel, and duribility of the classic RL mesh shirt. They're really the best way to head for everyday polo shirts. They also have the added bonus of looking good with both jeans and a pair of trousers.
