Summer is still hanging on here in Dallas. High of 95. Luxire Chambray Shirt, Red Cotton Selvedge, Inexpensive Taylorbyrd Cotton Jacket, Ted Baker Chelsea's.

Still getting my head around the upload, rewriting the earlier post.

Terrible quality shot of a dirty mirror, and close-up of the cotton jacket. It's a heavy cotton jacket that I use all the time, even occasionally in winter.

streetfood-06-jpg.843390

Went to the Geneva Street Food Festival today. More appropriate with a casual outfit. Jacket is 70% Cotton, 30% linen so I hope that qualifies!

Very nice!

Unfortunately, I do not own a cotton suit..

Hal

The jacket is made from cotton corduroy so I guess it counts. I'm still waiting for everyone to break out their mustard corduroy and olive canvas suits.

Given my distaste for cotton jackets and pants:

Cotton jacket. Linen-cotton shirt. Linen pants.

Every entry save two were solids and the two with patterns look solid from a distance. Is there a general aversion to patterns or just patterned cotton?

My guess is that most people just have more wool jackets than cotton. People probably go solid before pattern, so people probably get enough solid wool jackets so that they branch into patterns; that’s probably the case less often with cotton.

times like these i miss the old forum format.
Same. I couldn't add a poll to the original thread. You can however edit a poll which you could not do on the old forum. In the future, it would be wise to add a poll to the thread when creating it and edit the poll to add names afterward.

Additionally, I couldn't edit the original post of the FC thread to collect all the entries. I quoted all the entries to a single post, but the majority of the photos where changed to links. I had to manually add the photos to each entry or else one would have to click on a bunch of links. Not very fun.

There is still time left, but it looks like @Clouseau or @Claghorn will win this one. A kind reminder, that it is the winner's responsibility and honor to choose the topic for and run the next Friday Challenge. If this is not possible, the second place winner can take point, then third place, etc. If the new challenge is not up by Tuesday night, I'd recommend extending the deadline for an extra week to allow participants time to join. Also, I'd recommend creating a poll along with the original tread then edit it later once all the participants have joined. Congrats, gentleman and good luck.

Fun Fact. The new forum allows you to edit your voting. I voted for Claghorn but not Clouseau. I could change that right now which would cause a tie. Drunk with power.

Thanks, sir. No worries. There's still 20 minutes to go. I'm just happy the Friday Challenges are back. I hope we can keep them going.

Better morning than evening. I got a 6PM class this term. Much prefer to teach in the morning.

Alright, well, I'm open to ideas, and I'd make this a two week challenge (and am willing to annoy people in WAYWRN over those two weeks to keep attention).

Thoughts so far are:

Tweener challenge (an outfit with elements of S/S and F/W)
Green tie challenge (item based challenges are always interesting to me; get to see how a similar item gets incorporated into a variety of styles)
No conservative business dress, white linen square challenge
Blue, brown and gray challenge *cough* (wear an outfit dominated by those three colors, in any combination)
No blue, brown, or gray jackets or suits challenge
