S95 is really the way to go

That or its big brothers in the G series (which are maybe a pinch better and have a wider zoom range but won't fit in as many pockets).

Great in low-light and great with all things travel-related it seems.

Wait a couple weeks and pick up the s100. I don't know what others think, but the inclusion of a GPS unit sounds really cool. I'd have loved to have had that included on my s90.

I'm actually thinking of waiting for the S100...and then picking up an S95 on the price drop.

I keep hoping the S models will show up on the loyalty program thing where you send in an old broken canon and they give you a big discount, but they never do (and unlike my pro photographer father, I tend to be unwilling to may MSRP on cameras).

I got some Canon over the summer, I think it's the ELPH 300HS or XS, something like that. black case, nice and modest looking.

Anyway, I like it, nice photos, smaller than a pack of cigarettes. Bought it because I wasn't using my Nikon DSLR because I hate toting stuff around. Haven't used it for more than 100 takes but the coloring is nice and honest, startup speed is quick (I picked it because it has a CMOS sensor and apparently it's faster) and it does more than I need to do, which is just take snapshots of my daily life.

Panasonic LX-5

Canon S95

Both of these delivery excellent image quality for a p&s.

Canon is a bit smaller, Panasonic has a bit better lens.

Can't go wrong with either of them.
