Though I'd consider myself a Balisong enthusiast, they aren't legal for carry in Michigan, and my options are quite limited as far as folders are concerned. As such, my to-go carry knife since it's debut has been the Spyderco Sage. To me, it's the epitome of what a simplistic, stylish folder should be. Unfortunately, I don't have any photos onhand, but here's an image straight from the maker's site:

Also, if it's yet to be mentioned- an excellent site for those of you interested in pocket knives, or fashionable flashlights, notebooks, etc, is www.everyday-carry.com. It's one of the few blogs I find myself keeping up to date with nowadays.

Not a good value. Get a toothpick by buck or case if you want that style of blade without wasting your cash. The buck is the best knife you'll ever get for $17. It's worth twice as much and performs like knives significantly more expensive than that.

Alright, still don't know what the hell I want. Maybe you guys can suggest something perfect. I want it for a EDC, and don't want a huge tactical knife. Hopefully something that looks nice. I recently came across the Al Mar Hawk ultralight or Böker Plus Exskelimoor II--seemed nice and good quality. GO

Al Mar usually has very good fit and finish. AUS8 steel they use is OK, though VG-10 they used before was better. Take a look at the Benchmade catalog here . Model 440 and 480 would make very good "Gentelman's folder" IMHO. Spyderco also makes great knives though not everyone likes their designs. Their list of models is here. In the few hundred dollars range one can look at Chris Reeve Mnandi or inlaid small Sebenza and models from William Henry.

Mnandi is probably the ultimate gent's knife.
