Since I live in Santa Fe, NM, I was surprised to see that there is still quite a Southwest influence in many Italian brands, such as these belts. (And for those who also follow international fashion brands you probably saw yesterdays Louis Vuitton Pharrell Williams collection show in Milan that was Southwest Peacock on steroids!

For those who think Pitti is nothing more than some sort of a "peacock convention" here are pics from two different parties. Not a peacock in sight. Most of all, you couldn't ask to be around a nicer, more hospitable and gentlemanly group.
That was my wife's and my initial impression from our very first Pitti. We have consistently been delighted and grateful for the warmth and graciousness of everyone we've met over the years attending Pitti. Many of these people have become friends in real life, too, which is a wonderful gift and is why we keep going back.

And, @Gus, it was so good to see you and your wife again, after far too many years!

Yes, there are lots of nice people around all week at Pitti, and like @Andy57 mentioned, many have become friends over the years.
I seem to be in that Plaza Uomo shot you took.. 😄

And here is the obligatory wall shot of @mossrockss who was at Pitti covering it for his Menswearmusings blog

sweet, thanks Gus for the pic.

My perspective on clothes has changed since going to Pitti, and also as part of getting older, having children, and living life. I like to dress like you see above (Southern Italian tailoring with a bit of an edge; not visible but the shirt is a washed denim workshirt).

But, increasingly, I feel that life's short and wearing a blanket robe thing is awesome and why the hell not.
One anonymous internet poster's clown is another man's guy-living-his-best-life-because-why-the-hell-not.
Of course dressing classically is great and is required on some circumstances—clothing identifies you as part of a tribe and communicates subconsciously whether you're in or out of a group, which is very much required in some jobs, communities, etc.
But also if it's not required for communicating anything for any particular reason, I say more power to dressing simply to look great, feel great and express your style. (I'd make a caveat about nudity and modesty there).

Anyway, here's a pic I took of one of my fave guys whenever I see him, Gianluca. More pics posted here.

Gianluca is such a great guy. He has his RTW line of trousers and jackets PML (sold at Leffot) and bespoke trousers Pommella Napoli sold at a number of locations in the US.

Some of you who attended the Styleforum 10th Anniversary Party in San Francisco will remember that he spoke and showed his movie about Italian tailors.

And a good friend. As for that robe, there's nothing questionable about it, in my mind. It's seriously awesome. I was so impressed that I'm contacting the maker to discuss having them make me a smoking jacket in a similar cloth!

Well, it's not my taste, but maybe what's more questionable is the use of it in place of a coat.

Where else can one nerd out in there menswear approved outfits?
You misunderstand: I’m a fan! I want to know the secret to entrance as well! Thus the famous “one can not simply…”

(and thanks for all the photos, to those who practice…)

Very nice pictures till I saw the last one! That robe jacket is awesome for some but hideous to me! The entire black shirt and black tie outfit... Someone did mention the word too many clowns....
Would agree that the robe jacket would be best saved for wrapping around oneself while you stumble out of bed toward the coffeemaker in the AM.:p

@mossrockss pretty cool picture, impeccable outfit, and with your favourite watch brand.

Edit : btw UC (Peter) is the kind of guy that would probably even look good wrapped in a plastic bag.

How does one get invited to Pitti, and is there a chance of doing a large Styleforum meet up at one of the shows?
It’s a trade show, so if you can show the organization you are in the business (as store owner, brand owner, buyer, etc.) you just buy a ticket. They will also allow ‘influencers’ plus someone taking pictures for them. So if you’re active on social media you can also apply for a ticket for you and your photographer. Then there’s of course (photo) journalists that are welcome to apply for a ticket, and perhaps some other categories I’m not aware of.
