passive forms of income

Anyone have any creative ideas for passive forms of income?

For example, royalties from books, music, etc seem pretty good to me.
Similarly, interest, dividends, etc from investments are standard.

Any other ideas?

And no, I don't consider being a landlord to be very passive (had a family member do that, lots of work maintaining the properties).

Stakehorsing pool hustlers?

I hear some community organizers have been giving advice about setting up bordellos.

Buy out life insurance policies on terminal people? I hear that was a major investment at one time.

Studied that one in Bschool. Professor thought it was amusing to tell us about that stuff happening after he taught us how to price things like that in finance class.

That gave me an idea. . .

Maybe I go on one of those cheap stock photo websites and find some pics of a flat chested but attractive girl.

Then, I make a website begging for a boob job and set up donations via paypal.

500 or 1000 websites like that might generate some serious beer money each month!

What do you guys think?

I had no idea what people were talking about when they said "second life" until I read about some guy that got busted for some kind of virtual / real / weird bank fraud thing.

Would you like to make $1500/week without leaving the comfort of your own bedroom?

Blogs make money through advertisements, sponsors, etc. but probably not exactly passive since you do have to put in the time to write. Maybe owning internet forums is easier since they're user generated. Hard part is making them popular enough to make money off of. How much is SF pulling in these days I wonder?

I'm acquainted with a guy who made a small fortune owning and operating ATMs in the early days of those machines. Apparently in the early nineties it was possible to lease a space, buy a machine, and watch the cash come rolling in.

I want to be one of those people who gets a degree in something but never actually practices because of family money.

Beatrix Potter's father was like that--he was trained as a lawyer but spent his entire life at gentlemen's clubs.

My mother had a neighbor family in Shanghai who was also similar. They lived in a rather large three-story castle-like structure with a turret and the parents had never worked a single day. Their money came from the fact that preceding generations had all been high officials in the old Imperial regime, which fell in 1911.

My mother recalls the house was filled with gargantuan pieces of antique furniture and trunks stuffed with court robes. Everyone in that family would just idle around all day.
