My tailor did not say it was 'silly', just that the amount of angle he would have to put in would be excessive. I now understand that to have less break in the front, I need to rethink where the back of the pant will reach. I thought the pant could reach the heel in the back and also have no break in the front. Turns out that is not possible, if I understand correctly... Edit: I am not using braces... how would they help?

Braces help keep the front and back of the waistband even, whereas the front band has a tendency to drop a bit when using a belt, thus creating more break. Trousers hang best on braces.

the most common way to do this is. first set the length of the front with the amount of break you wish. then the bottom is slanted as much as possible in back.
