Wearability aside, I think OL is the best when they mix dorkyness, awkwardly fitting cuts, and nostalgia/sub-culture references (or whatever you want to call it) with their great fabrics and styling. The better they can pinpoint that aesthetic, the more the brand will stand out and come into its own. Even though they might sell well, I care very little for their basics.

I definitely agree from a brand recognizably perspetive , but for me it does little. Seems like they are pretty all over the map (but still somehow manage to make it work together) at the moment though (from the style you mention, to black and moody, do a bit workwear-y). I personally buy mostly basics from them, mainly shirts (which they do very well). Speaking of their awkward cuts, i´m curios to see how the sailor pants will work for example, I talked with one of the store guys who said that they hadent sold at all...

If OL releases anything else in my wheelhouse this season there's a good chance I might have an accident in my pants. Would be all over any number of the SPLASH pieces.

the fabrics on the shirts ion the splash collection are lovely, and the "splash" oin the green shirt is excellent too, I came very close to buying it yesterday I held off mainly becausae i don't need any more shirts and the green just did not quite work with the indigo of my jeans

i did not try the orange but I'm not an orange person, so to speak.

For sure: the Classic Green Shirt is oddly appealing.

Also really enjoyed the Reversible Bomber, though orange is not my color, either:

How's the "fleece wool" they are using on some things this season? Wondering about the relaxed trousers in particular (warm? Soft?), I just wish they had more of a taper to them.

The linen blend BDS ...can't get enough of those.

But you mentioned the raw silk (insert various color here) bleeds like a pig...so be wary & expect color loss.

I love my linen blend BDS too, wool blend not so much.

My silk noil jacket didn't bleed but good to know on the shirts, hope to get one at sale.
