Why would you do bespoke trench coat? Well, I suppose if you're a baller & commissioning all that other stuff. Why not? Your tailor must have a love / hate relationship with you bc he's probably working nonstop on your stuff lol.

That looks great, DE, particularly the lapels. And I agree about the blue shirt. But I'd go with darker and maybe redder shoes, probably Horween's #8 shell. Dark brown or black (suede, shell, calfskin) would work well too, imo.

Thank you emptym! Dark brown suede shoes would most probably be a great combination. I'm looking forward to wearing the jacket together with either a pink shirt or a dark blue polo shirt.

Currently commissioning suit with someone from Naples. Is it true they are required to collect VAT even when shipping to the USA?

Well you tell us, you're the tax genius!

jk - That doesn't sound right to me as anything being sold outside of the EU should be exempt.

There's the law and then there's the practical application of the law.

This...

I've always been told that as long as they ship it or collect it out of the EU, then there's no VAT. If you collect in person then there's VAT and you'll need to claim it back.

Im curious of this too, but the way I look at it, if you have an issue with the price, don't buy.

The price is fair but I don't want to be taken advantage of.

Anything “made in Naples” makes me wonder whether someone is paying any kind of taxes anyway. Did you pay cash?

I believe some of the smaller operations are just not set up to exclude VAT when making an overseas sale. In those cases, the only way for them to exclude tax would be if you provide a VAT number (which generally only businesses have, since they are required to collect VAT from the end customer for the finished product and not the steps in between).
