Alien: Romulus would have been more fun as a stand alone movie with a slightly different plot. Solid action, atmospheric and decent effects, and the two lead actors were fine (the rest might as well have worn Star Trek red shirts). As it turned out the movie was utterly pathetic. Another franchise-reset complete with winking call backs, the same repetitive and endless airlock action sequences, an amusing but gratuitous Deep Fake Special Guest Star (cue Love Boat theme), direct and literal nods to most previous iterations, and the predictable "we're safe, let's go to sleep, but wait...what's that?" action ending. Groan.

The lead actor was plucky and resourceful because she was simply Ripley 2.0 and had to be. The android was Bishop and Jones the cat rolled into one. I'm sure this did more for the Aliens movies than the risible Force Awakens did for Star Wars at least.

Again, you can imagine the number of parties I don't get invited to. Hoping beyond hope that Slingshot is not something dorky like "Event Horizon meets 2001: A Space Odyssey."

One of my best friends who I share common interests liked it. Said it wasn’t perfect but a return to the franchise roots. The common criticism I’m hearing is that it’s a remix of the first two films which to me seems like a good thing. They were the best in the franchise.

I have a few days off this week so I’ll watch it soon.

It contains references and homages to almost all the films. Gets tiresome fast.

As long as Prometheus gets the lowest rank...
The movie still bugs me. Review gave it and Covenant two stars. Prometheus has Ridley back, stellar cast, cool and understated effects but idiotic script. Nobel-level scientists acting like Cub Scouts. I’ll never forget Rafe Spall’s character doing the “Here Kitty, Kitty” thing with the Penismonster. I laughed out loud in the theater.

The original gets five stars but Aliens only gets two and Romulus three?

Ok, so the writer says the ranking is "on a scale of one 👽 (not too spooky) to 👽👽👽👽👽 (terrifying)." So by that metric, I can see Aliens being a 2. But 3 and Resurrection are 4s? 3 is bad and Resurrection's second half is so epically terrible it utterly negates the decent first half. And neither is even close to terrifying.

the James Cameron movie ? we just finished it , he thought it was great .

there's a bob's burgers where they mash up freaky Friday and aliens , the Tina/Ripley character learns how hard it is to be a single mom when she gets switched into the queen bee alien lol .

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
