North Face alternative?

Since fall is approaching quickly, in Oct/Nov sometimes I like to wear a North Face Fleece. However my 2 best friends also do the same, and when 3 guys show up anywhere wearing the same brand i don't have to tell you how dumb it looks.

Any alternatives??

Nope, North Face makes the only jackets in the world.

If you are looking for outdoor gear, you would likely know where to look.

If you're looking to wear North Face as street wear, I can't help you b/c wearing outdoor gear for street wear strikes me as ridiculous.

Try a sweater for warmth, or any of a number of makers of various jackets and coats.

Basically im looking to wear as "street wear"- just a casual jacket to go to the store run other errands in the fall/early spring

Get the new Patigonia catalog. Great stuff. It lasts and is cut very well. I think wearing North Face looks tired these days.

If you are considering another jacket from an expedition/outdoor apparel maker I would suggest something from Arcteryx, Cloudveil or Westcomb. I own gear from all of them and it is top notch camping/mountaineering/outdoor gear.

If you're looking for something else, how about just getting a pea coat?

Another good option.

I also like Marmot and Mountain Hardwear.

+1000. Patagonia is good too, but arc'teryx is by far the best. The sweaters and jackets can be worn off the ridge and still look good.

invest in some good wool sweaters. the best part is that they keep you warm and ventilated just as well as polar fleece. for the price of a TNF jacket (200-300$) you can get 3-5 high quality sweaters in different colors varieties (half zip/cardigan/crew/v neck). with the rest of your savings buy a simple jacket to wear over it.

merino wool is probably the best technical fabric in the world. seriously i use my old merino wool sweaters for my late fall winter runs and they actually perform better than some of my technical fabric thick long sleeve winter running shirts.

but if you're going to use the jacket for hiking/camping/expeditions then by all means invest in the higher end north face stuff.

I like TNF's Summit Series stuff, it seems to be mostly on par with Arc and a little cheaper.

This thread has reminded me that I need to drop about 10-15 lbs before the cooler weather arrives. Most of my sweaters and jackets will be exceedingly snug if I don't.

I know it's not the most popular brand here, but I like my Vineyard Vines fleece quite a bit.
