So wait. . . the Bears beat a .500 team and then. . . **** the bed in the playoffs. And that is supposed to prove that they are a legit elite team?
**** the Bears. They're OK, but I'd hardly put them in the top tier of teams. Those are, the Pats, Steelers, and Packers. The next level is the Ravens, Saints and maaaaybe the Giants, although obviously the 9ers can hang with and beat all of those teams. Then you have teams that are good, maybe even better on paper then those top tier teams but who have not really been there year in and year out. The 'niners and Nears fit in here. So do the Cowboys, Lions, maybe the Bangals. I think the 'niners can beat all the top teams but it would be hard for me to really think of them as more elite then say the Pats who have such a history of big game success and such a great coach and quarterback.
Still, the niners have a killer, D, take the ball away a ton, have great special teams, great redzone offense, don't make a ton of mistakes of O, and can run the ball well. These are all abilities that have proven time and again to win championships.
Your QB is Alex Smith. The Niners are not winning a Super Bowl.
That is all.
***And don't bring up Brad Johnson and Trent Dilfer who played on teams with all-world defences.
Also, when the 49ers play any team that doesn't blow, they don't do well. Even in their wins the 49ers aren't dominating on offense. When they play a well-disciplined team, they won't make the cut.

Yes, the Packers are the better team, but I think the Bears (with Cutler) offer the toughest matchup in the NFC for several reasons. The Bears play a Cover 2 defense, which I think is the best way to defend the Packers' offense. Stop the killer big play and make the Packers take 12, 15 plays to score. On offense, the Bears can play ball control with the best player in the NFL no one knows about, Matt Forte. Now that the Bears O-line is decent and Cutler is not running for his life on every dropback (he's easily a top-10 QB when he has time to throw), the Bears can make the big play as well. And of course, the Bears also have X-factor Devin Hester to change field position.

9ers haven't faced a front 7 that good all year; the pressure was incredible.
Chilo Rachal is disgraceful, he got blown up nearly every time he was in there and got flagged for a high/low penalty on the only big play of the game.
that was a totally bs call, btw.
Sorry, but **** like this just makes me roll my eyes. They're 9-2 and have beat play off quality teams. In both losses they played tough and were in the game until the end. This last loss is to a legit Super Bowl contender, on 90 something hours rest, across three time zones. Are you saying all nine wins are against teams that blow?
I'm not trying to make them out to be Super Bowl favorites by any stretch of the imagination, but they have every right to be in the conversation.
Can we just agree that the Niners aren't that good, rather than back-pedalling and making excuses for everything?
Every year there are a few teams that punch well above their weight by playing a good team game, confidence, and a usually weak schedule. This year it's the Niners. Hats off to them for their good record but to pretend that they have even an outside shot at a title is wishful thinking.
nvm. . . Suck a 'niner dick all you hatting btiches! Anyone sure enough of the 'niners suckatude to make a friendly wager?
