T4, do not use terrone as a term for badly dressed people as it is a discriminatory and racist word used to address Southern Italians, well dressed or not. You probably wanted to use Cafone or Tamarro, which is used to refer to people that try to show off for an occasion but those not have the knowledge to dress well and end up dressing like a clown....

I have met throught our common grandmaster as I said Fiorenzo, aka Davino.

I have to clearify in sake of dignity several things, especially for a guy who says I do not exist, the opener of this thread.

He ( Davino ) worked with a part of the Borrelli family that I don't know as I work with the other, that is why i said that.

He is a very nice person where we talked and laughed loud for ours while I was on his lab close to the Vesubio and then dinning a kind of pizza i had never seen before.

We talked about the factory that does the ties for Gianni, about fabrics etc.( I wil abstent to publish the opinion)

He showed me his embroid options, several I got never seen before as embroiding two color shadow like on letters done with exceptional quality. He has had several criticis by orthodoxes of classical dressing for embroding flowers or similar on shirts, but he only gives a huge variety of options but is the client who chooses, not him.

The quality of his " ricamatrice ", the maidens who do the handwork is simply the best I have seen, doing the roll of the shirt at only 1 milimeter wide, while others do several milimeters, I got to improve a lot to reach this, if I ever do of course. That is true humildty for my part.

He has chosen my partner and pupil of same grandmaster as well, another ex-Borrelli tailor and me for his tiemaking, while I will cooperate sharing rolls of fabric whose minimin bought is too big for me or him, I could say, if x the tiemaker and client is as good, why is that he choses another? but I won't say.

Finally, as several top friends neapolitan tailors ( several on Omast ) who invited me to meet the tailor of The Pope in Rome a few weeks ago and I know from several years ago, have told me that please keep them out of the internet, as they lose top businessman and industrialist clientele, as honeslty this top educated and elegant clientele literally doesnts wants to have the " tailor who does yellow suits or carrot shirts " as their tailor and I know one who regrets of have done such garments... AS has lost several at this time.

Other thing, for me, a guy who looks nordeuropean on the contrary, mi piace essere un terrone. I like being a southist kind of italian is what i like, is a more or less translation, for me in not an insult as it is for others.

Edit; I forgot to say that I told all this to him and he told me i did well defending my friends, for curiosity, i did on the car a phonecall so in case I would have dissapeared or punched out loud, police would have found me. On the dinner I told this to Davino and he laugh loud for minutes. lol, Ey when you opened the door I was away phoning right, was for this. ajajajaja

Edit; One dutch expatriate shirtmaker wrote here all this was bad handwork, for me seems one of the best handwork around. I would like to know what is good handwork for him, as I am a student of high tailoring, i want to learn as much as possible.
But i agree on the collar not good fit as i said time before.

( I am in Napkes right now and will be ordering three summer shirts in linen, entirely machine made as they will accompanies me on a trip to East Africa, guess what, the shirts will be much cheaper, but will still fit good nevertheless)[/quote]

Hi Marco,
Did you ordered shirts from D'avino or other maker? I don't understand if you don't like D'avino (because I wrote about him) but you still order shirts from him ????
What maker produces, in your opinion, a good "fitted" shirt, maybe I can write a review about them next time I am in Napoli?
I visited different tailors while I was in Napoli and will post in the future as I haven't took any pictures at the other ateliers.
Because I have posted in the two threads Gianni started doesn't mean I am not willing to try other makers. I just like to try different tailors and write about them.
You may or may not like the tailors I visited, but that's not my problem.

The guy in your picture is Gianni and you stated he is not. anything else is not credible. That is all I have to say. Both D'Avino and Pirozzi do not need this type of publicity. This is all I have to say. I use two shirtmakers and one tailor and I have amply covered my experiences here. You just joyned and the first post was about the best tailor you ever tried in GC thread, then the best shirt, in a GC thread..Good day

Guess a Passagio/Bestetti trunk show is coming soon as Gianni Cerruit is unashamedly plugging him and denigrating others like Antonio Meccariello. Pathetic.

Hi all

Don't know if anyone cares, but sometimes there are users on this forum who just appreciate and want to enjoy good clothing and learn about best craftsmen.

Example: me - I decided to check out style forum again after many years absence, as I will be travelling to Naples Italy to get a suit made soon. I have been researching a lot about Naples tailors on here over the past few days and am looking forward to my trip. Also researching shirt-makers.

But the problem I noticed...

So much spam, arguing, negativity - it makes it difficult for people not familiar with Naples tailors to actually find "the truth" about what will work best for them.

I know this will not be your intention, but actually there may be many people researching the subject - in the end, they may decide it's too intimidating or that they will not get a good experience judging from some of the comments I read throughout SF about different Naples tailors.

it seems everyone here is so passionate about the quality of tailoring in your home city, but if there is a lot of negativity for an "outsider" like me, it might put people off from visiting these wonderful craftsmen because you feel less sure about which tailor to visit.

Just my opinion.

your comment very fair. the best solution for me is to see the images of artifacts. Also why the images can't lie that much. I try to write and show a part of the best of Italy I am wearing. then everyone is free to comment as you wish. Of course how could I tell artisans not good? If I don the worse I'd be lying to myself. This is because I would wear artifacts not done well. but these are just my opinions. Because I love to wear only the best and doing high quality bespoke ties don't love evil made products.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
