the storus "smart clip" dosent look like it make the cards look secure, also its pretty much devoid of any character, ditto on the steering wheel

No experience with it, but if I were to get a money clip it would probably be the M Clip. I've read a couple reviews on it and it seems like a top notch piece.

I don't usually carry much if any cash so a money clip is not a big concern of mine.

Cards are very secure in the smart clip. The holder is slightly narrower than the cards, causing them to flex slightly along their length. Guilty on being devoid of character, though this may be mitigated by (1) engraving and (2) the fact that very few people have them.

This is what i use! I can hold one note or lots of notes with a card or two inside. It's the perfect money clip... I had always wanted to get a stylish clip made up (as i know people living in China) which functions exactly the same as this. If a few of you show an interest in buying one after such a project, let me know and i'll have a technical design made up for a prototype. It shouldn't be too costly

I got my Storus clip in the mail today- the "card" side holds one card as tightly as it holds five. As you slide the card in, a pinch in the clip causes the card to slightly buckle, and that tension holds the card(s) in the slot. I worry about the cards warping from being pinched constantly.

Money clip side seems sturdy enough.

It's not a distinctive piece of kit, but it gets the job done. It definitely falls in the "everyday" category, not the "stylish accessory" category. I really like the gunmetal finish, but it gets fairly nasty-looking quickly from fingerprints and grease.

uuuuhhhhhhhh........ I'm confused. If you look at the link in the original post, they're selling exactly what it sounds like you're talking about designing. And if I remember the NPR interview correctly, China is where these are made. Are you talking about something different in design? What'd you have in mind?

It looks nice, but I suspect you need to have served at least 1 term in the oval office to pull it off.

I just have a stainless steel and carbon fibre money clip, I don't use it much. I remember seeing a really nice sterling one in a Cartier boutique awhile ago. It was just a folded piece of silver with the double-C insignia engraved all over it. It was really nice, but it was all shiny silver, and all the other stuff in my pocket would scratch it up pretty quickly.

yes, sorry I hadnt looked at the link properly. I just saw an ugly looking thing attached to a wallet and didn't see the stand alone one. Still, I think a more slender stylish looking thing might be worth designing. next week I may speak to a contact about drawing some designs anyway. I won't do this with the idea of making a big profit, more of a fun project.

interesting mechanism

any experiences to share?

The beza stuff is crap. I ordered one and it's poorly constructed and the loop at the end of the clip is so bulky that it doesn't fit smoothly in one's pocket and defeats the whole purpose of having a low-profile money clip.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
