Hey Guys,

Trying to find a great, versatile messenger bag that I can throw over my shoulder to go to work, take with me when I make quick trips up to Boston and take with me to the library/park on the weekend.

Requirements:
-Brown
-Probably leather (open to other materials though)

Here are some ideas I have:

Fossil: Here

Fossil (several): Here

JCrew: Here

JCrew 2: Here

Thanks for the help!

I have the Jack Spade Canvas Day Bag in chocolate and it is pretty well built for a decent price.

Are you seriously considering a $795 messenger bag? Jack Spade sells a brown leather messenger bag for $500. I don't think you can get it online anymore but they were selling them in stores at one point. Otherwise I would just suggest the regular canvas messenger bag.

I was just going to make a new thread when I seen that you made this thread. I am looking for a similar bag but with a more relaxed vibe.

I was looking at the citizen by chrome but will this look stupid unless I am riding a bicycle?

Those types of "real" messenger bags are only comfortable when you're riding a bike.

Agreed, they are impractical for daily use. I have a Timbuk2 Pro series, and I dislike using it day-to-day. I just bought a Jack Spade and a Filson .. i'll have to see which I like best. Although, neither are leather .. which I thought was the OP's concern.

i have the fossil dakota bag (part of that fossil link) and i don't like it at all. it is way too big for me and doesn't fold right and just looks awkward.

j crew had a different leather messenger back last year that was around that same price ($150) that I wanted but the fossil bag was a gift so I kept it.

out of the ones listed, I like the j crew canvas one the best.

I've got a Fossily messenger bag. I like it when a briefcase is not necessary. The quality of the leather of my Fossil bag is really good.
