We bought a place with all this stuff in it so we don't have to worry about any of it either.

Bump--I have a small tax refund burning a hole in my pocket... thinking new range, maybe new fridge. Any recent experiences with the $1500-$2k range bosch models? Tried browsing gardenweb and chowhound but got a headache.

They break down if you dont clean the filter which is busy sucking up dog and cat hair, dust and dirt. The technology is 20 years old. Try Liebherr they are quiet and dont have a filter plus they have LEDs

If you read consumer reviews (which, as a rule, will always lean to the complain-y), you're going to find a rant about pretty much every high-end appliance brand. All that says to me is that I can only afford to spend $4k on a cooktop and oven if I can also afford to be disappointed. I'm sure there are a lot of people quite happy with their big timer appliances.

Since I'm just replacing, not remodeling, I'm considering this Bosch range. Sealed gas burners on a glass top, electric oven w/ convection. Other than the touchscreen, it seems to be relatively no frills, designwise, which I prefer over some of the overloaded, try-hard models in the price range.

There's also an outlet near me with pretty good prices on a couple of nice 30" "pro" models from kitchenaid, bertazzoni, dacor, and bluestar, in order of increasing price--any red flags on those brands?
