i'm curious about something. the brand luis vuitton, it seems like they never go on sale. to my understanding, their clothes do, but not the bags and accessories. or they do have sales, but they're just secretive about it.

does anyone know anything about this? i wouldn't mind going to their sale and see if there is anything interesting...

i forgot to mention...im asking for the men's stuff too

Pretty much, if you are looking to find a sale, LV isn't going to be the place to go. I personally have never seen an open-to-the-public sale on anything at LV, but when we discussed this once a long time ago, some member mentioned seeing some shoes/clothing items on partial markdown before.

Nevertheless, the general consensus is that they don't have sales. Besides, even if they did, their markup is so high you still will hardly get a bargain. That $1300 windbreaker now will be only $850. Yippee!

LV stuff never goes on sale. Believe it or not, that is one of their big selling points.

There is also the urban legend (I had one store manager confirm and one deny) that all seasonal RTW and bags that are not sold at the end of a season (or in the Employee Sale) are then sent to Paris to be destroyed.

I have a very close friend who has worked for LVMH for over 10 years now. She told me that LV's inventory is limited to begin with, they sell the vast vast majority of what they produce, and what isn't sold is typically snapped up by employees or given as gifts to high-spending Japanese customers.

That makes more sense in my opinion. I wonder how much you'd have to spend at LV on a regular basis to start getting "gifts".

There are the VIP gifts like paperweights, small boxes, unique bracelets, etc. But, I am not familar with the practice of giving other items that were orginally for sale away to high-profile clients.
The only celebs that even get a discount or pieces on loan are Elton John, Pharell and J.Lo (that one might have been a few years ago).

That's what she told me. Apparently, there are some individual customers in Japan that spend hundreds of thousands every year on LV stuff. I could imagine them getting a Xmas present from the manager of their local LV store.

Louis Vuitton and Dior (and a lot of other luxe brands) are owned by the LVMH corporation.
