I may be wrong here, but I wouldn't find anything wrong with pairing a royal oxford cloth with a suit, and perhaps even with a tux.

It may just be me, but the cloth's texture is very visually reminiscent of the marcella "pique" texture you'll find on tuxedo shirts...

I agree, Royal Oxford also reminds me of the pique texture of some tuxedo shirts or whiteitie vests. It is totally appropriate for wear in a suit, provided you are OK with that texture.

Twill is a much more straight forward choice for formal occassions. Twill can be an informal fabric too, so it really depends more on the quality of the fiber, the thread count, whether is one ply or two ply, etc. I personally find high-end twills to be better than broadcloth for formal ocassions. It drapes a lot better and it nowhere near as translucent or wrinkle-prone.

Yes indeed. I recently got a soft twill 100/2, which drapes well and minimal wrinkling. Id happily wear with suit and more formal occasions.

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately that fabric is more than I would like to spend. What alternatives are there from Luxire that you can recommend, if there is currently no cheaper white royal oxford?

Here is a marcella fabric that would be somewhat similar to a royal oxford. Depending on your style, it might look a little more formal than you would want, since this is often the material used in some tuxedo shirts, but I think that some people can pull it off.

Here is also a basketweave that would also be similar and would definitely work:

In the twill dept., there are a bunch of choices in different price ranges. I haven't tried any of these myself (disclaimer) but they seem to have potential:

You might also want to email Luxire and ask if they have other white royal oxfords that are shown on the site. They can sometimes source other stuff out, and given the large selection that they have in other colors they might be able to do something.

I have been very unimpressed with luxire's e-mail responses as of late. They used to be very good about it.

Hmm. I mailed them last Saturday morning to tweak an order and had it all sorted by about lunchtime. So perhaps not unresponsive, just inconsistent?

They have been slower overall in email responses on my end too.

Any updates on when the new website will debut?
