In 2014 I started a thread here on SW & D aimed at examining the ongoing influence of 1960s modernism on our style today. For want of a better title I called it the Look Goes On.
In July 2015 we had the first of what would become an occasional series of international meet-ups in London. Last week we held the 2017 event. A number of regular posters on the thread met up on Friday at The Metropolitan Bar by Baker Street station. It is the former head offices of the old Metropolitan Railway and has recently been very nicely refurbished, retaining many original features:
After a few drinks and a bit of lunch we spent three hours or so discussing many important sartorial topics and then staggered down Chiltern Street to John Simons - the main focus of the day.
We stopped on our way for the obligatory 'shoe circle':
Then off to pay homage at the shrine. JS didn't seem to be about but his son was there and made us welcome. After trying and fondling many items some of us picked up a few nice pieces.
Then a pic outside the famous establishment:
@Clouseau @Inkss @Bela Kun @Man-of-Mystery @Mr Knightley @covskin
Time for a few more drinks and that was that. A great day out.
If anyone has a penchant for this kind of **** why not join us on the thread?
