Is he going to put it in a time machine and send it back 100 years?

FNB is Helen of Troy? Surely there is a better character from the Iliad to compare him to?

Well, the naissance of his e-Home was really the coming together of his band of followers, who, having been banned from every clothing-related forum on the internet, joined together to pursue the healing process and to convince themselves that they were above all that to begin with. FNB was certainly the standard-bearer for the movement who embodied the collective mindset, or at least took the initiative to be that figure that Grayson did not or could not.

Try having a good cry, it might get your own healing process started.

Hi Fumma,

I have not been in touch with LL recently (for past 10-11 months mostly) so can’t comment on its state now. But despite the fact a lot of people like to make fun of that place... keep in mind that back in 2003 and early 2004 there was really a lot of miscommunication between the members both here and AAAC as to what was "custom made" or mere MTM. Back then a member "Spalla" (M. Alden) was one of the few people at these two forums who was Very vocal about the clear distinction between mtm/rtw and true custom made or "bespoke". It’s funny how the word bespoke is everywhere now on internet clothing forums but 4-5 years ago that was certainly not the case.

I think that was one of the main principles of starting LL. The old yahoo LL forum and in its early days was remarkable for what information it offered on line about custom clothing. There were some members (who I don’t think post there now) T4 (still posts here occasionally) and SJO for example whose knowledge in fabrics and tailoring world is as good as anyone I have EVER met online or in real life.

Some of the early tailoring discussions were by a handful of people. Spalla was one and MG was another famous one. Keep in mind this is before the "true" arrival of Darren after which there was a storm of tailoring info on all forums.

so... long story short LL was created for the sole purpose of discussing (at least mainly) the custom-made clothes. There were no-flame wars on LL back then (maybe even now) which also meant few disagreements publicly, which can be a good or bad thing also. One of my early gripes with a mainstream thought over there or anywhere was the love for "soft-shoulder" or "natural shoulder" and the misconception it was THE choice for the customer regardless of their body types. I did spoke out against it a few years back over there and told Manton also that he looked better in somewhat padded shoulders (he still disagrees with me though

)

While it has more diversity in there than usually credited for (at LL) it is certainly no SF. No other forum can be like SF. And as Dopey said it elsewhere I believe.. it is what it is and I also don’t think there should be a need or desire to make it more like SF or any other forum. After all that whats makes each of these places unique. However, I will agree that LL used to be a lot more exciting than it is now….. at least on a quick look.

Now apologies to Dr. B for derailing his thread as this has nothing to do with the topic but I felt like saying a few things. I honestly don’t think everyone there aims to strive for 1910 look and it’s a little unfair to lump all people in one broad category. But what is the life without stereotypes

Yes, it has - it is available on Amazon UK and I will have a copy for Christmas. I'm rather looking forward to reading it.
