Linen pants and belts

The general consensus among menswear enthusiasts seems to be that when one is wearing trousers with belt loops and such loops are visible (shirt of t-shirt tucked in), then a belt should be used.

However, I noticed that most people don't use belts with linen pants, even when their shirt or t-shirt is tucked in. See for example:

I'm thus curious to hear your opinion:

1. Do you think linen trousers should be style with a belt?
2. If yes, what type of belt would you recommend?

Personally, when I can wear a belt, I wear one. I feel that my pants are too loose if I don’t wear belt. Linen is no exception.
Concerning the style, you style belts with linen the same way you would style with khakis or chinos, I don’t see a difference. Maybe opt for more lighter colors but that’s it.

If the trousers have belt loops - wear a belt. If you want a to go beltless, get trousers with side adjusters or a similar fastening mechanism.

Which type of belt depends on the type of linen pants, the rest of the outfit, and external situation. For a casual daytime setting, suede should be acceptable. Possibly fabric also. A leather dress belt can be too dressy with some linen-pants outfits.
