My Tundra, which is fast as **** for how big it is, has this problem to an extent. Its not really much of an issue though because I try and get decent mileage out of it rather than 10mpg so the pedal isn't always to the floor. 5.7L tend to drain gas quick.

I'm waiting for my notice in the mail, hoping to milk the situation.

This does sound scary. What's the symptom? Is the pedal simply "sticky" and slow to move back up? Or does the car experience sudden acceleration out of the blue?

Has anyone seen diagrams of how the pedal mechanism is sticking? Are these drive-by-wire systems (all electronic) or a cable system directly connected to the throttle body? (I'm guessing the former).

Lots of media coverage, but no mechanical explanation of what's happening.

Toyota will not explain what the problem/fix is until tomorrow.

Better question is how they apparently mislead NHTSA investigators. Having done automotive product litigation before, they are FUCKED. The trial lawyers are gonna have a field day and Toyota is gonna lose the benefit of the doubt in US courts for discovery, etc. Welcome to America, Boys!

While in college I test drove a '67 Plymouth Fury 383 big block. I punched it and the throttle got stuck wide open. I came pretty close to rear ending stopped cars at about 85mph but thankfully I reached under the peddle and pulled the stuck cable back. Not cool.
