Bump. Anyone?.

I bought this vintage Belstaff on eBay a while ago for about $200. Made when Belstaff was still a UK brand.

1000

Lewis Leathers is probably the most famous UK brand for DRs. Worn by The Ramones, Lou Reed, The Sex Pistols, etc. Pretty much the classic rock 'n roll DR, although you kind of have to embrace that look to make it work IMO.

There are also all those Japanese repro brands like The Real McCoys.

That jacket is outstanding. Great find!

IMO a DR can be pretty versatile if you you're just not too self conscious about it. Or maybe I'm reading you wrong and you would agree with this also? Denim, tee/henley/sweatshirt and boots/sneakers for the win all the way. I've also seen people pull it of with tailored trousers and a shirt, like a SW&D and CM fusion.

(^^^Not the best example shirt and tie wise, but the best I could find right now when doing a quick search.)

That the leather is not that great, and that the modified cuts are not great for most people.

Thats too bad. I really like the LL designs. I will of course as Aero myself, but do you think they would be able to do a design similar to these?

It's less about something being a DR and more about the nuances of how it's designed and constructed. I find fashion-y interpretations on DRs to be a bit easier to wear than real-deal DRs -- like the kind sold by The Real McCoys, Lewis, Schott, etc. Unless you want to go for a full blown workwear look, or you actually ride a bike. The '80s punk look works well too. I still haven't seen a fashion-y DR designed as well as ToJs, but obviously ordering from them is out of the question. You could try scouring around for used versions of a ToJ DR. Just be careful of sizing, since they're all MTM. I think some Acne designs look good, although Fok doesn't like how they're constructed. Someone posted some Japanese brands earlier that also look great. Might be wroth going a few pages back to look and see.

I have seen some decent Acne leather jackets, though, in all cases, I found the shoulders to be really, realy, squared off, which doesnt work for a guy with sloped shoulders like me. The very worst leather jacket I've ever had the misfortune to lay my hands on was also an Acne jacket. It really really terribly made, with even more terrible leather.

Which one was the terrible one? And the decent ones?

Since you dealt with Aero before, do you know if they can do a design similar to the LL ones above?

The Acne jacket was an Oliver moto.

Aero can make adjustments to details. To what extent, you'll have to negotiate that for yourself.

Take a look at the Aero Ridley which is their version of a minimalist double rider, developed with Thurston Bros. It's based on a slim pattern with no action back or shoulder gussets. The belt has been removed, and you can also take off the cinchers and the epaulets to really strip it down. It has high arm holes and has a terrific fit.

As has been noted, the double rider as a fashion jacket is a challenge as all of the original patterns are for riding, and feature very large upper backs tapering to slim waists and are short in length. (so that it doesn't ride up into your neck when you sit down on the bike) That's why when people post fit pics on these jackets, invariably some people say "too short", while the traditionalists say "that's how it's supposed to look."

We can also do the Aero J107 (see photo below--J107 in Horween CXL FQHH) with the slim shoulders and fit of the Aero Ridley...the Slimfit J107 is something that quite a few have been ordering in the past months...

It all depends on how you like to wear it, but imo the sleeves are too short for you...
