I've owned Z150, Competition Weight and X150.

Z150 easily hands down. Starts off meh.. but man. Really shines after some wear. (Excuse the lack of shiny hardware)
That said, last time I checked the factory that provided Z150 leather to Vanson burned down and they switched suppliers, else I'd have picked Z150 again instead of X150.

Competition Weight.. I'd probably say is not your cup of tea unless you want to look like you *really* ride. My Model B in Comp Weight is floating around in this thread I think.

wait, how'd you find a Model B with TWO chest pockets? All they make is a one pocket version. Otherwise, your jacket is what I'd like to recreate.

I actually regret getting the collar snaps. Looks fine in the photo but silly in practice. I just leave it unsnapped.

So these are the leather samples Thurston sent me, from left to right: competition weight cowhide, black bainbridge, firenze, Z150. Thinnest is bainbridge (which is easily the shiniest and most horsehide-like), then Z150, then firenze (which is almost like a spongy sheepskin) and thickest being the competition weight cowhide.

And this is a close up of the comp weight on the fit jacket they sent:

I had a Firenze jacket and ended up selling it. Never changed a bit. My guess is it would look new forever. I suppose that's a selling point to some but clearly not us.

Not mine, but I got the exact same configuration made. Vanson Oxford in x150

That's fantastic. I visited Vanson a couple of years ago and they had plenty of Enfield's to try on but not the Oxford. Is it a new model? I keep looking for an Oxford in comp weight on the 2ndary market. I may end up buying one new if I can't find one soon.

I wonder why I wasn't offered an X150 option? Those forearm wrinklies are dope.

They haven’t been able to reproduce it yet since the fire, IIRC. I guess they prioritized comp and Z, since X is sort of in between the two. You’ll get the forearm wrinkles once you wear a jacket more than twice.

@patrick_b I’ve heard the Firenze is neither here nor there. Stays plain looking but it isn’t a bulletproof hide like the comp weight, so you’re not getting anything for the trade off.

My gremlin skin Vanson is 9+ years old and worn to hell. No set wrinkles...
