I liked this brown visvim leather, sold it because the belt was a bit obnoxious, though

That looks great NN. Wonder why you didn't just have the belt removed.

Also, speaking of brown leathers, here's my sad brown leather story (apologies if this comes off as self-serving given the B&S listing below, but there is some useful info IMO).

TL,DR: don't dry-clean your leather jacket.

Full story:

I bought a really nice brown leather jacket from KK Attachment. Guidi calfskin, super soft. Then it got a water stain on it (stupid of me to leave it on the back of a chair near the kitchen). I took it to the dry cleaner, who sent it out to a specialist leather cleaner. Impressively, they got the water stain out. But unfortunately they also shrunk the jacket about 1 size and it lost some of the original luster / softness (though it's still pretty soft cause the leather itself is super high quality). I contacted Guidi and asked if they could re-condition it, since they made the leather. Amazingly, they agreed to. I sent it to Italy and waited a really long time. They sent it back, and it did get a fair bit softer - though still not back to its original state - which I know realize is impossible.

Sorry to hear that man,

How bad could a water stain have been to not simply dry out. Did the water have oil or something?

IME water on a brown leather would leave a dark spot, so knowing what happened to you if this were to happen to me now i'd condition the whole jacket probably and darken it to match.

Washing leather, except for a very tight grained leather like horse, will always shrink it 1-2 sizes.

Horse leather shrinks as well. I have soaked one and went down one size.
All leather shrinks a bit, but ime, horse, especially front quarter horsehide, shinks minimally. I have washed jackets on high heat, and the leather shrank... maybe... 1/2 a size.

Cheers,

Fok.

Here's a photo that shows Vicenza horsehide (in a custom Aero Sunburst half belt) next to a rare 1940s/1950s Buco J-24 in horsehide. The weight, finish, grain and character of the two horsehide leathers are remarkably similar! The Aero Sunburst has seen about three months of wear and quite a bit of Seattle rain...

@tellure

Is that photo of the jacket before or after, and what size are you?

@gettoasty That's a current photo (post re-conditioning et al). It's still a great jacket, just not quite as shiny / not as much luster as it had originally; it's more matte now. I'm a slim 48, and the jacket is now a 46.. so it just fits over a t-shirt, but not much else.

@tellure Yeah I would prefer it to fit a little looser. Bummer to hear. You seem to be slimmer than me and taller. I ordered a 50, so, will see how that fits. I'm usually a 48. Seeing how it's Japanese size and the high armholes, I'm hoping for a generous but still slim fit. I want to wear knits underneath a leather, maybe even a jacket.

I really dig the drape of this new jacket. The lapels are the perfect size, imho. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/thesislabs/high-performance-minimalist-motorcycle-safety-gear
That's a really cool concept but the pattern needs a lot of work and they don't have the customer base for data on how to do that. It's oddly proportioned in places, the collar looks awkward, weird bulges especially in he arms. Even if I had $1500 to drop on a jacket that may or may not get delivered (ahem) I wouldn't drop it on that for another three or four versions.

How can you possibly tell from one very stylized shot? This assessment ranks up their with some cm fit critiques.
