Beautiful Lobbs!:)

Btw, after hearing the disappointing news, I went down to the Jermyn Street store today to find out just what's going on. This is what I was told:

1. Our resident goth chick, came up with this idea, that she didn't want anything with a "II" in the name anymore, because it wasn't in line with her "artistic direction" of tracing back John Lobb's roots. She wants everything to reflect the original walk John Lobb made from cornwall (hence the chunky, fashion soles) and she did not want there to be anything "updated" or "modern" in the John Lobb line up.

2. Said goth chick says she wants to discontinue (not even allow made to orders) any model with a "II" in it. Philip II, City II, Jodhpur II, William II etc all face the axe.

3. Management says WAIT A MINUTE. YOU CANT DISCONTINUE ALL OUR BEST SELLING SHOES.

4. Management says Phillip II and City II are staying.

5. Goth chick says but the William is the iconic double monk, not the William II. William is literally the first double monk shoe. We need to go back to our roots.

6. Management says, FINE. But we'll offer all the available colours we had on the William II on the William now (Saw Parisian Brown, Bracken and even Plum Museum in the William today).

7. Literally every single customer John Lobb has had protests this. It is RIDICULOUS to completely eradicate the William II from the line up (and not even allow a special order).

8. The decision now is that the William II will be available on a Made to Order basis, while the Williams will be in store.

9. Small point: Goth chick DISALLOWS anyone from making a special order William with the Brass/Copper buckles anymore (I wanted to special order a William II with brass/copper buckles for a vintage look).

10. I ask if goth chick is going to be fired anytime soon and I'm told no.

Thats the story folks!

Give it a couple years and they will have lost 50% or more of their loyal customers...........some of the new designs reminds you of the Prada and Gucci rubbish!!

Barney's on Madison Ave has a pair of Chapels in Size 12 (a shade of brown) I think they were approx $1,009.00
Not cheap - though a stunning pair of shoes with the regulation Tree's.
The rest of the Shoe sale selection was underwhelming.

OK... To confirm everything. Today I was at the JL boutique and they are indeed discontinuing a lot of the models, from what they told me no current model is safe. Apparently I can't order the Luffield on MTO anymore because the new creative director axed it. Also they said William 2 might go and other classics. I was told they will let me know tomarrow if I can get a special order for the shoes, since they have to ask JL directly in England.

Wtf!? The new stuff is crap and they're getting rid of the classics. It doesn't look like I'll be buying anymore JL any time soon then.

"You’ve brought a youthful quality to John Lobb’s classic appeal. How has the team reacted to your vision?
PG:
It’s been an interesting challenge for [the factory] to create something that doesn’t come naturally to them. But they’re willing to let me challenge them, which I think is really rare, actually. It’s never just about repeating or re-launching styles. It’s about going to the essence of what each archival piece is about and then interpreting that in a modern way."

What initially attracted you to working with John Lobb?
Paula Gerbase:
The challenge. I’m quite curious, [and] I’m always interested in learning. [Also], I’m a true shoe geek. I’ll find something humorous, like using a "derby detail on an oxford shoe, when everyone around me doesn’t."

Really??? Myabe she's been checking out EG, G&G, StC and Vass MTO offerings......

I think if this keeps up it will be the end for me. Have to move to other brands until JLP gets it together.

Someone needs to tell Paula the Luffield model was the iconic pair Bond wore in Casino Royale.....what a waste of marketing goodwill by discontinuing...

I have to thank her because:

1. I wouldn't have bought three perfect pairs at bargain prices had it not been for the liquidation of old stock
2. I don't have to save up to buy JLs anymore since her new offerings are downright hideous

I feel like 5 pairs are enough: Becketts, Phillip, City, Chapel and William. Of course, there are other iconic models.

Seems like Paula is planing to discontinue 3-4 models.

Good for my wallet. Now I can save my money to buy more EG and G&G.

some of the most iconic models!!! Good job!! .....I can spot a pair of Becketts & Chapel from miles away.
If you're a fan of boots - try adding the Brookland to your stash.
