I feel like JM Weston dosent get that much love for the high quality they are? These could use a good shine but great shoes!

Popped my JM Weston cherry with a pair of Le Moc for myself and another for the missus. I must admit that the quality is superficially quite comparable with that of EG.

Has anyone been to the Champs Élysées branch? They perform the fitting in an auditorium!
I prefer J.M. Weston to EG, but in the end it comes to personal taste. I own two pairs of Le Mocs and they are fantastic. I like the casualness of the shoe and the slightly longer last (compared with the 180). Quality is superb. The color you got is lovely, I was considering this pair because I love the color, but I'm generally not a fan of suede. I have the dark blue grained calfskin and the special edition Roland-Garros paprika orange grained calfskin. They are great spring-summer shoes.

Out of curiosity, why do you prefer JM Weston to EG?

Unfortunately other than Le Moc, the last don’t do it for me. They are either too elongated and pointy or too chunky. But that’s just me

My most recent two pairs purchased are coincidentally JM Weston and EG so I can provide a personal comparison.

The Weston is the Ultra Weston wholecut in burgundy. The mirror polish on the toe is extraordinary and the shoe is up there in all the little details, including corduroy edging, hand painted/finished soles, "W" toe nail grouping, same-color full leather lining and top notch unblemished leather (Weston owns its own tanneries). The last is in a classic smart roundtoe shape that works well with sharply tailored trousers. I truly think few RTW shoes can completely outclass it. It feels and wears like a top of the line shoe. It was also much less expensive compared to the other top tier makers, coming to around $850 after VAT reduction since I purchased it while abroad in Brussels.

The EG is the dark oak Chelsea captoe. Of course, the toe has the iconic patinated treatment. The leather is also more supple, but that does not necessarily mean it is "better". The last is the classic 82 English almond toe shape, elegant and always smart. On the other hand, it does not have the small details I mentioned above for the Weston wholecut. Retail price is much higher too.

I do like both shoes tremendously but find the Weston to be the better value nonetheless.

You have a beautiful collection of JM Westons. I only have three pairs. (Le Demi-Chasse in tan, Le Golf in black calf and brown suede) I enjoy the aesthetic. I especially like their more robust models. At least in the USA, it can be hard to get them at good prices compared to some of the other premium brands. I could certainly enjoy a pair of Le Chasse. Maybe I'll stop by their NYC store sometime...

Thank you.
The most confortable for me are 590 and 765.
The 180 is really my fav loafer.
677 are a "must have", I bought them vintage and J.M. Weston changed the soles as new.

The 180 really is nice, especially the two versions you have there. Could you give sizing advice on them? Compared to maybe something like Church's or C&J?

Thanks for takig the time to post your magnificient collection. You have some iconic models and some fantastic unknown ones for me. Just excellent!!. The "765" which was stopped, really impressed me. Could you please tell me how much was the resole for the Chasse model?. I resoled my 180 in Limoges and was 165 € (around 2014).

If it helps I wear 8.5uk in most C&J last. 8D on 180.

I am 9 in Green or C&J loafers and 9C in 180.
on 180, letter is very important.

When I have purchased them. I have tried many combinations.
For example, 8,5E is also ok, but the foot seems really more "wide"
I think 8,5D would have been also ok, but I choose 9C and still don't regret it months later.

Finding the perfect fitting for 180 is very tricky because this loafer stretches...so when you buy it, it has to compress a little (not too much) on the leather strip. On French forum (where many 180 lovers are), they said you should prefer the thinner size (even if it is a bit too long) than the wider size (because the 180 will always stretch but length will never extent)

I have a similar experience (EG duke and EG Berkeley, Weston 180) and have the exact same conclusion.

Green are, to me, maybe a little bit more "elegant", but Weston are far more versatile and go with almost every outfit.
