I received my Graylings today (ahead of schedule). Love them, but I have one question for the group. I noticed a weird coloration/distortion effect at some of the corners of the lenses when I'm looking at a screen, as shown in the attached photograph. The effect is not noticeable or only barely noticeable in daylight. I do not see the same effect with prescription sunglass lenses or Maui Jim sunglass lenses that I compared.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is this normal? Would appreciate any thoughts, particularly from those who have the Graylings, like @DorianGreen

Don’t worry, they are polarized filters. My Druid ones are like that too, as well as many Leisure Society models.

Yeah, I believe it's stress points on the lenses where they're inserted that slightly alter the curve.
My Enzos have it...

Thank you both (and EasilyAmused) for putting my mind at ease.

Someone sent me these pics, Taos in Lapis.
I was doing some research but they're not listed on the JMM wesite.
I was thinking the only models releasing in this color was Whiskeyclone (releasing in March according to JMM site) and Dealan.
Dealans were deleted btw...
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

I pre ordered lapis Dealans in August for originally December release later pushed back to January. Now the website says “no longer available to preorder” - does that just mean their original run of 150 has all pre-sold? Other models have “sold out” on the website. It’s a popular colour so it’s conceivable that the pre order run is sold out. Haven’t heard anything from JMM (Jacques Marie Mage) and they still have my money so I’m hoping that means they will fulfill the order. Seems weird if they take everyone’s pre order money then cancel the run.

Another weird thing is the lapis Dealans on the website are numbered 145/150. They sell a run in August to be distributed in December / January, but they already have number 145 in hand to take publicity shots?

in European website Dealan lapis is available for pre-order again.
I was hoping to get the Dealan lapis as soon as they hit an European AD (I know I would pay for customs when they arrive to Spain) and my local AD told me they would receive this pair so today was kinda surprise when they sent me pics of lapis Taos (that I've never heard about previously).

Just a weird way of going on.
Maybe they enjoy the chaos as it maintains a veil of mystery and exclusivity. I think it just exposes the operations side as a bit Mickey Mouse myself. Do you wanna be a world renowned brand the exudes class and efficiency at every turn or do you wanna come off like some backyard “artisanal” operation?

I see Dealan Lapis still available for pre-order on the JMM website with expected Jan 2025 release. Maybe they were updating the website so Dealan Lapis wasn't showing temporarily?

From what I've heard from others' experiences, releases aren't shipped out or numbered consecutively. So seeing a #145 released weeks or months before a #3 would not be unexpected

Seeing as they're not yet on the JMM website, your AD probably inadvertently leaked those photos before they were supposed to go public. Consider yourself lucky! 😆 You could be the first to own one!

Mine don't have it, or at least I can't detect it. Today is grey and rainy in Berlin, I have to wait for some sun to try my Grayling outdoors.

Molino 51 are my opticals, and they fit great on me. Torino are my prescription sunnies, and they are pushing the bounds for how large I can go. My Graylings fit somewhere in between; the lenses are bigger than the Molino 51, yet they look tailor made for my face.

FYI: When I left a pair in my shopping cart last Friday, the JMM online shop emailed me to let me know they only had three pairs left in stock. A pressure tactic, sure, but presumably also true.
Well, i pulled the trigger at italist.com... Never used that shop before, but they should arrive in about a week...

Agreed, I was slightly concerned the Grayling (Evans) could be a little large, but they fit perfectly.
Yes, they wear bigger than Molino and smaller than Torino.

Edit: Another example how the JMM description can often be misleading: the fit of the Grayling is given as medium whereas that of the Evans as wide.

I’ve bought from them before (not JMM though, just some boots), I think they’re just a storefront for smaller shops that might not have their own website (or that ranks terribly in Google). I had no issues.
