Quick shout out to @JessBob for tipping me off to these Dealans I just scored off eBay.

I’ll sort some on the face pics once I decide what outfits will match up. As these are from the early releases and predate my discovery of JMM I’d be curious to know what the official colour name was for these. I’ve seen a couple of ‘maraschino’ frames which look very similar, and they used ‘Marlboro’ for a similar Molino 55 Diamond Cross version. Were these Maraschino?

Incidentally when you do a search on “Dealan Red” these come up too with grey lenses:

This pick has a whiff of fake about it. I couldn’t find a pic with the tell-tale grey marble JMM background and the colour just looks a bit cheap, not the rich deep translucent red of the above pair. Anyone remember these?

Funny how life so often makes a liar out of you. I once imposed a rule on myself that I wouldn’t repeat colours or frames. When my lapis Dealans are eventually delivered that will be my eighth pair of Dealans and I’ll now have similar blues (along with my cobalt Herbies) and two red Dealans with the above pair and my vermillion Otticas. I think I’ll hang on to all for the present then reevaluate down the road some time to see if any are unused and gathering dust.

Aaaand it's now confirmed, my "Wolf 21" aka Ascari order has ben cancelled and a refund issued.

Few things:
  • I've no idea whether more than 50 units were sold or whether actually fewer than 50 were made or didn't pass QA
  • After my (and presumably others) cancellations the site shows it as available again, I've let them know
  • In similar **** ups from other brands I've usually got some sort of discount for the next purchase, but not with JMM
So what's this T Henri brand you're talking about? A Taycan maybe? :)

In!

Looks like they even care enough to align the wire core properly

While these are not a color I could wear, I really appreciate them aesthetically. I am a fan of colored acetate. I guess that's why I enjoy collecting pens as well (and I can be a little more free with the color selection there).

Are you happy with your T Henri?
So far yes. The Sian are my second pair of THenri, the first being the gold Berlinette navigators I purchased over a year ago and I love those frames. I understand there's much discussion about the rising prices of JMM which now more or less has them in the same price ballpark as THenri (LF series aside) so they need to lift their QC issues because in my eyes they are falling short.

The problem with JMM isn’t just limited to the wire core, which is often misaligned with the acetate temple arms... In my humble opinion, the more serious issue is that the temples frequently drift out of alignment (for example, the right temple may have a greater angle compared to the left one, or vice versa).

Whenever I order a Enzo/Torino or a Molino frame online, I always order three pairs of the same glasses (MrPorter thank you for your patience!) so I can choose the best one and return the other two. Yes, it’s come to this.
By ordering 2-3 pairs of the same glasses, I can confirm that some frames are completely bent and misaligned, while others are perfectly straight down to the millimeter.

Interesting. My favourite colour is royal blue. I have a gorgeous Montegrappa Espressione in variegated cobalt blue.

My local shop is always sold out of Enzos so never could try them on.
If I wear yves, molino 55, torino - will enzos fit properly? ( Ive probably asked this a bunch )

I have the normal size Molinos, and also have a pair of Enzos.
They both fit me perfectly.
I tried on a pair of Yves, and they were comically big on me.

I have a Visconti Aida that is a wonderful blue. I think my favorite to use and that also has a fantastic red acetate is a Delta Giacomo Puccini.

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
