I kind of regret being impressed with you being a page 1er and the second overall comment on this bulletin board. Hi folks, not new to JMM but just joined the forum! Picked up a pair of red cloud last frontier today as well as a Lankaster in taupe. Wife likely to divorce me when she finds out! Just got a wee question about the cloth and I know I’m being daft. I assume the Microfibre side of the cloth is for the acetate and silver etc as opposed to the lenses?

Sorry for the late response. I took the last week off from the bulletin board. Welcome to the group. There are some really great fellers here who have a wealth of knowledge. Don’t worry about what the lil lady will say. Once she sees you in the frames, she’s sure to swoon.

Ok. Now just hear me out on this. I don’t know if the following is true. I hope it’s not. Heretoforthwith is merely what I was told at a very reputable and high end optical shop by one of the fellers working there in the late afternoon. I’ll leave the name of the shop redacted, but it was in the Palm Beach area during my vacay a couple weeks ago. I kept it to myself because I didn’t want to scare anyone or be a rablerouser, but it’s been gnawing away at me. Again, this is only what I was told so TIFWIW.

The young salesfeller said that JMM (Jacques Marie Mage) has been in talks with Luxottica to sell the brand to them. I told him in a polite way that he must have bad info because that just didn’t pass my sniff test. He assured me that his JMM rep said that it’s basically a done deal, to which I told him that after Luxoticca takes the JMM brand there would only be one or two years left before the quality is absolutely garbage basement level.

Have any of you fellers here who are in the know or who have connections heard of such a horrid fate? I’m really worried about this!

Sigh... well, I have my doubts about this. Everyone knows the reputation of Luxottica, selling them the brand would literally ruin everything that Jerome has done to build the brand. I guess it depends what he's in this for, the money or building an empire.

If this is true, yikes, I'll probably move to another independent eyewear brand and not look back. I wonder if this would boost resell prices for pre-luxottica releases though.

I know this is just a rumor, but for some reason it has left a {false} bad taste in my mouth lol

Stopped by the Venice store, pretty nice place! The rep told me they plan to open up a new one in LA, and then NYC, Milan, London and Paris.

When Jannard sold it certainly went downhill quality-wise, creativity-wise, and many other ways for Oakley. Know people hate Oakley, but I grew up with it and it defined a lot of my childhood. Serious nostalgia for me. Probably why I like the JMM wraparounds lol.

TBH I’m hoping it’s false too. I don’t want to have my current frames tarnished in the future by the filthy rot that other company puts out.

Those aren’t actually the “silver” color. Those are the pacific color. I’m looking for the one they call (confusingly) “silver” which is actually silver and gold.

The pacific color is nice, but also seems to lack a lot of the sleazy appeal of the frame making it look a little bit like any other aviator. I feel like the two tone silver could per perfect but too much gold wouldn’t work for me

No doubt it’s confusing - when I first saw it I was like “yeah, that’s not silver”. Then I saw the pacific and realized there were a million better ways to name these glasses - especially when they have a way of calling black acetate glasses 100 different names.

Those pictures are actually more helpful than the product photography, and agree it looks less gold in those pics. Thank you so much for posting

I’m not sure if it helps but I have some Marbot in the silver/gold combo.
I can’t remember if that was called “silver” or “silver 2” though.
You can’t really see the gold at all when worn except from some random angles
