Post what you consider to be the epitomes of various music genres. This does not mean post your favorite artist. It means post the artist which in your mind embodies a genre perfectly.

Examples:

House: Daft Punk / Justice
Metal: Metallica, Pantera
Chillwave: Washed Out
Horrorcore: Dr. Octagon

etc.

This thread stops being fun though when you have to break things down into sub-genres, which is practically inevitable as soon as a disagreement breaks out.

House for example has: deep house, acid house, gospel house, disco house, tribal house, tech-house, progressive house, electro house, ghetto house, etc.

So while Daft Punk qualifies as disco house (and since they practically invented the filtered out disco loop, I'd say they're the best disco house outfit), I couldn't call them the epitome of all house music.
