Living mascots are part of what makes college football vastly superior to NFL football. The other part being sluts in sun dresses.

Disagree here. Gerald McCoy will be drafted early in the first round and Jeremy Beal, Auston English, Frank Alexander, etc. will all be NFL players. OU's linebackers are pretty salty, too, making for a nasty front seven. Most folks think OU has the best defensive line in the country. Texas will probably also have to play Nebraska and Suh before facing the SEC winner. Suh is probably the only DT better than G. McCoy this year.

I don't have a ton of confidence in UT's offense this year, and it wouldn't surprise me if Florida or Bama shut down Texas for most of the game. But I think UT's D could do the same to the SEC teams. In the end, I have more confidence that McCoy and the receivers can make dynamic plays in clutch time than that Tebow and Bama can do so. When he's not screaming at his teammates or running for 4 yeards, Tebow has looked pretty lost. 'We shall see. One thing is clear to me - Texas' offense was much better last year when Colt had equal confidence in both Quan and Ship and the green light to run at will. It's taken Colt some time to adapt to losing Quan (and our number 2 receiver, Brandon Collins to academics). Hopefully the offense is finding itself and Colt now has the green light to scramble.

The Ugas are all relatively long-lived for bulldogs. I saw one article that said the average service time for an Uga is nine years, which is amazing given the average bulldog's life expectancy is only 8-10 years.

Is that really how UT dogs keep dying? One would think they'd build a fence.

I agree. Uga's death made the front page of both the local Athens paper and the Atlanta paper, and it has become the topic du jour for everyone I know with any connection at all to UGA. Part of me keeps thinking "man, this is ridiculous," and it is. However, there's also something pretty cool about it.

Jeez, Reveille is up to VII now, but she's had a good 8-year run thus far.

Hey - does UGA go to class and all that fun stuff? If UGA barks in class, is class then immediately dismissed? We have a few...peculiar traditions around Aggieland.

On another front, the UH Cougars have a couple of new live Cougars, after having been without a live mascot for over a decade or so.

Harvard wins, Michigan loses... all in all, I'd say that this was a fantastic day in college football.

LOL - that's exactly what I said a few weeks ago when I got to watch him in person at the ASU - Stanford game.

Wow - great game in Tucson last night, but the Oregon OT win is just heartbreak for so many of my friends who are Wildcat alums.
