Hi everyone, I'm new here and I'm here because I've been changing my style, I used to wear pretty much only sweatshirts and cheap skinny jeans. I've finally decided made an effort to change and I have seriously started to enjoy caring about my appearance and wearing nicer clothes casually, not just for formal occasions. I'm excited to learn a lot from everyone here!
Hello Shunge, there’s an old Chinese saying ‘change is the way things are”. In other words change is constant and accept it. Happy to have you here. Welcome!

Howdy y'all, I'm new here. I've been thinking for a while now about how to break out of the engineer's outfit of jeans and a polo, and so I'm here to learn! I've got a couple of goals, first being to build up some every day essentials to feel more put together, and second being getting a couple of suits for when I have the opportunity to dress up more.

It's warm here in Texas where I'm from, so I'm particularly interested in fabrics that can handle the heat!

Editing to add that a big inspiration is classic hollywood. Many levels of formality are presented in a way that is able to look so much better than what we generally see today, which I would love to work towards.

This is a thread in which you introduce yourself, regulars and new members alike. This is one thread I'd like to keep reasonably civil and reasonably clean, so, let's do that, okay?

I'll start. I'm Fok, one of the adminstrators on the forum. I have a bunch of kids and live in Idaho. If anyone told me any of the above 6 years ago, I would have wanted whatever they were smoking.

I wear jeans 24/7 - mostly Triple Works and RRL, and otherwise, have a lot of belts and overpriced Italian made sneakers. I mix up Wings+Horns, RRL, Jil Sander, Margiela, Haversack, Woolrich Woolen Mills, and SNS Herning,

Hope that you guys have a good time on the forum.

Cheers,

Fok.
Hi everyone,

Posting as my welcome email suggested.

My name is Andrew, and I'm a chess teacher and server. I was born and raised right outside Seattle, and although I love to travel the PNW is my home.

I'm young and don't have the budget for top-ticket items, but believe in shopping slowly and focusing on quality over quantity. I'm deeply interested in the history and functionality of clothing and am looking to better understand how to look for quality (particularly secondhand).

Happy Holidays!

Hi everyone. New here as well. I'm Steve and (as may be obvious from the handle) originally from Indiana, but have been in the DC area for the last ~12 years. Fell into the shirt/slacks on weekdays, jeans and T-shirt on weekends rut over the past few years, compounded by the post-pandemic WFH sweats uniform, so am now looking forward to pulling myself out of those doldrums and learning from all the collective experience and expertise on here.

Hi!
I'm from Norway, recently moved here from Sweden. I always liked to travel and have travelled to many Europe and Asian countries. USA and Australia is next goal. However, I have taken a break since I'm starting up my own business in Norway.

Hi!
I'm a senior in high school from the States that has been slowly getting into classic menswear over the last couple of years. I'm a big tweed fan and I also enjoy Ivy League style. Aside from clothes, I'm a big fan of reading. My favorite authors these days are Cormac McCarthy, John Steinbeck, and David McCullough. I also enjoy the poetry of TS Eliot and EE Cummings.

I hope to learn a lot from my time on here, as well as contribute in some useful way.
