hey SF! I'm Julia in Chicago, IL. I've been reading SF-adjacent blogs for a while now (alittlebitofrest, dieworkwear, oxfordclothbuttondown, putthison, et al.) and absolutely love midcentury Ivy/Prep style. As a butch trans woman, it's very liberating to embrace such a cleaner, more elegant version of masculinity. For me, it's not necessarily about dressing to fit a type as much as it is dressing well.

Outside of style, I'm an avid stamp collector and a diehard minimalist music fan, particularly Philip Glass.

Hey folks!

I've always heard of Styleforum and decided to take the plunge and join. I'm in my mid-20s and work in an environment that requires me to wear suits daily. I always heard that my family got their start in the States as haberdashers, so I guess fashion has been in my blood. Looking just to chitchat and get advice as I build my wardrobe!
Hello Oftenthrow, welcome!

Hello,
I'm Mike and I'm looking forward to learning more about men's fashion, since according to my wife I have none. Still learning my way around the style forum so I'm not sure if this is a new post I'm making or a reply to someone else's post since I don't see anything that says to create a new post and at the bottom of this box it says, "post reply", but doesn't tell me what I replying to. Anyway, I'm learning and will get it figured out as I explore around. Just purchase a new pair of Grant Stone Diesel boots in Crimsom Chromexcel and they are absolutely beautiful now I need some casual attire, besides blue jeans, to go with them.
Hello Mike, Grant Stone boots are wonderful & are great quality for the buck. Please tell your wife that I said so. Lol! Take your time and learn about the wonderful world of jeans. Happy to answer any questions should have any questions. Welcome to the forum!

Hey all. Mid 20s law school grad who started their classic menswear journey in undergrad before falling in love with ivy style, but I enjoy experimenting with the rules.
Hi there, Ivy style is classic. However, it’s good to keep an open mind & enjoy your journey on the sartorial ‘adventure’. Cheers!

Hi,

I'm entering my mid-30's in the Washington, DC area. I'd like to wear longer lasting, better fitting, and more flattering clothing and thought this would be a good place learn!

Hi everyone,

I'm a guy living in the East Bay Area in my early 20s. I'm interested mostly in classic Ivy stuff, tassel loafers, and polo shirts with collars made from the same fabric as the rest of the shirt. I've been perusing this place and MFA for a bit, and I'm hoping to learn more while I'm here.

Otherwise, I also play the trumpet on occasion, I enjoy listening to a variety of music (new wave, indie, some hip-hop, and some classic rock), and I'm a bit of an urban design enthusiast. Cheers!

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
