Hi all! I received my new suit (my wedding suit!) from Indochino yesterday. I put it on today and… the fit seems kinda terrible!

My main concerns are as follows:

Jacket fit seems too short by at least an inch
A lot of my belt/waist seems visible
Pants are very baggy in the seat/upper half of thigh

Do you agree? Is there anything else that jumps out as a major issue which I should be raising with them? I am definitely going to be asking for a remake of the jacket. Do you think the pants can be salvaged?

thanks!

Yes, I agree that's not good. Their base pattern is aimed to please people who want a very slim, short silhouette. I don't recommend using them.

I don't think that suit can be fixed.

Pants look OK--they should be salvageable. The jacket IMO is more like 2-3 inches too short. Their styling has a really short jacket with a high buttoning point which will make the belt area visible from open quarters.

yes, I am tending to agree. I had my brother, who is the same height and similar proportions, put on his jacket. It is about 2 inches longer.

With respect to the pants, I want to get the fit right so that if I ever order again I don’t have to get the pants altered.

Trousers have a low rise and will be hard to wear well with a tailored jacket.

I prefer a high rise myself (usually more like 11.5 inches) despite my long legs. However, Indochino did not offer this as an option to me. In fairness I did not ask. I don’t know if they have a long rise pattern.

It would be an unusual thing to offer alongside such short jackets. The suit silhouette should follow a certain logic. As you shorten the jacket, the button point gets raised and the trouser lowered. The silhouette also has to be slimmer. Everything has to "shrink."

If someone doesn't like short jackets, it will be hard to get a non-short jacket from a short jacket maker because everything is built into the block pattern and must move together -- the buttoning point, trouser rise, general silhouette, etc.

Mine was the same way. I went to a showroom and they “remade” the jacket. You might get it back in a few weeks. My remake then needed some minor tailoring.

Good luck.

Went back today. They agreed to remake the jacket with an added 4cm of length. A very significant change. They are going to try to tailor the trousers in house. We will see how well that works but I anticipate I may need to demand a complete remake of the trousers as well.

Overall I was not impressed by the customer service. They were very reluctant to admit there was anything wrong. I walked out of the fitting room and they said "Wow, looking sharp!!!" as if to convince me there were no problems, when there clearly were. Every issue I pointed out they pushed back and said there was nothing wrong and tried to convince me that what I wanted was wrong.
