I cut my own hair... slip on a 3 from the shaver and do the sides, slip on the 3rd to longest one and do the top.

Its easy and I do it almost every morning before going in the shower.

my clipper has color-coded comb attachments, and they go all the way from #1 to #15! interestingly, #15 is 1.5 inches and is colored black. i find that a bit racist, sorta like knowledge is king's posts.

p.s. i do a #4 on the sides (any lower and i get that really white scalpy look that asians are blessed with) and a #6 on the sides. i'm posting this here so i can go back on the internet to remember what comb size attachments to use.

p.p.s. knowledge is king.

I suggest shaving it all off. But that's tougher in the winter. Hair really does insulate, at least on me. I shave it in the summer but let it grow in the winter.

For clippers, I think Oster Fast Feed are perfect. They're intended for barbers and most supply shops will only sell to professionals, but you can get them new on eBay for about $60 (vs $120 in a store).
