I live in NYC and need a good coat for when the weather is terrible.
I have a nice wool Big Coat that I love, and a lightweight raincoat that I love, but I need something for when it's like 30 degrees outside and raining.
I would probably wear something like this 5-10 days a year, so I'm not looking to spend a lot of money. I figured we're getting into clearance season for winterwear, so I should maybe buy something in the next month.
I'd like something with a hood, weather-resistant, roomy so I can layer chunky sweaters underneath, and somewhere between thigh or knee-length-ish. (A lot of fashion-forward outwear seems to be kinda cropped or waist-length these days, which I'm not interested in.) I would also like something that doesn't *feel* too heavy.
Currently, I'm leaning toward this Uniqlo option, which seems to check my boxes: https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/products/E470079-000/00 (I'm kicking myself for not buying it when it was $70 last spring/summer)
I'm also interested in this J.Crew option if it dips below $150 on sale (hasn't happened yet): https://www.jcrew.com/p/AD603
However, I'm also interested in more tech-y options that appear to be lighter but promise to be very warm. Taion is one brand I've seen recommended, and I think something like this might do the job? (I'm not sold on the quilted design, though) https://www.ssense.com/en-us/men/product/taion/black-military-pullover-down-jacket/16501041
What do you guys think? Are there any lightweight options I should be looking at? Are there lightweight coats that are actually warm enough for when it's ~30 degrees outside?
